Our guide Olga (Lola) juggled her schedule and travel so we were able to join her for our tour of Ajaccio after our tour of Bonifacio was cancelled by weather. She worked with us to find a way to make it all work. We really appreciated that. Ajaccio turned out more than we expected. It is famous for being the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. His home and the cathedral where he was baptized still exist. What Lola did was give us a truly amazing historical lesson on all things Bonaparte, bringing to life many amazing things we did not know or remember about his life. Always with enthusiasm and wit. Not boring, not repetitious, we all felt like we were were there, witnessing history. She also helped us understand more about Corsican history and about what life is like today. We spent our time wandering the streets of the old town and she took us to one of the best bars of Agaccio, with fabulous views of the mountains and ocean where again she shared both history and life today with our group of 4. Her enthusiasm for her work and lifestyle of Corsica are contagious. Truly a great guide and even better human being !!!
