Overview of your Ivalo tour
This tour is for those, who want to learn about Finnish Winter War and Continuation War 1939-1944 against the Soviet Union (Russia). This full day 7-hour tour covers the sights and places, where the local solders among various international volunteers defended against the enemy. The partisans made dozens of attacks on Finnish civilian targets during the Continuation War: we will visit at the historical site, where one of these attacks happened. In addition, we will discover the famous Salpa Line, which is a bunker line built in 1940-1941 on the eastern border. During this tour, you will visit several war memorials, get to know the areas where were the German bases and service buildings. There was a field track built by the Germans, which was an important supply track for the battles in the direction of Kiesting. I will introduce the original front-line men's house from 1952. This house is situated in the area, where the German soldiers had their bases. Both of my grandfathers served during this war.

The president of the Finnish Military Home Association Toini Jännes and the military home sisters Faini Aflecht and Greta Palojärvi died in the attack. * Tour in the historic and wooden frontman's house built by my grandfather in 1952 after the Winter War and Continuation War in 1939-1944. There is a private culture heritage exhibition as well. You will taste local reindeer sausages fried on the open fire.
