Off-beaten track into Chongqing local livelihood. authentic stories and history

We had two consecutive days with Chris and he was able to show us the vast differences between different parts of the city. We rode the metro at the stop that goes through the building and explained the differences between the two types of metros. He made sure we had the true experience and saw it from the local side of the city. It was nice to have him take control of didi and involve us in the process, so we were familiar with how to use it. If you are looking for a great guy to show you the true local experience but can also direct you to the typical tourist spots, Chris is your guy.

Chris was a wealth of knowledge and experience. He gave us a true authentic experience in Chongqing. While navigating on didi and the metro, he showed his intimate experience of the area and passion for his profession. No matter where we were, he had a great deal of history about the specific area or thing we were discussing. Visiting the labor village and having true Chinese food was amazing. Chris was accommodating to my senior father-in-law in adjusting the specifics of the tour, meeting us at our hotel, and either speeding up or lowering the pace depending on what was needed. When Chris says off the beaten path, this was truly that. From visiting the meat and produce market to seeing a garden at a shopping mall. Having a meal in true Chinese family style fashion was ab incredible experience. He was incredible knowledgeable about the area and willing to share his personal experience and upbringing.

We were eager to know about how Chinese people live in Chongqing and how China has become the country it is now, and this tour was perfect for that. Chris kindly showed us a local’s market (and gave us some interesting tips in relation to Chinese traditional meds), a Taoist temple (perfect so Chris could tell us more about the Chinese mindset/philosophy), the colonial neighborhood (where we got to dive China’s 19th and 20th history) and a 60’s communist block (where both the old and the new Chongqing co-live). We finished at an amazing hot pot, with views to the Yangtzé river. It was great getting to chat with Chris about anything we we’re curious about, and getting honest and interesting answers. Chris is bilingual in English and very fluent in Spanish (and very interested in knowing new words). Don’t hesitate on hiring one of his tours if you speak English or Spanish.
