For over 30 years, I have been an enthusiastic bird guide for birding and nature tours around Saskatchewan and other parts of Canada. I enjoy showing clients the special unique birds and spectacular scenery found within prairie grasslands, wetlands, forests and urban regions. I am a past president of our local and provincial nature societies and regularly lead their field trips. I have co-edited reference publications for Birds of Saskatoon and have contributed significantly to different birding books specific to the Saskatchewan region. I am currently a regional coordinator for the provincial Breeding Bird Atlas project and help with their bird identification workshops. I regularly contribute bird sightings to online birding platforms and currently hold the record for the most bird species seen in Saskatchewan. 30 years experience as a birding tour guide for a variety of organizations. Hold M.Sc. degree in Astronomy. Travellers will need to drive themselves in a rented or personal vehicle while the leader travels in a separate vehicle during the tour. We will talk via cell phone.

Overview of your Saskatoon tour
Join me for a 3 1/2 hour tour to visit the best bird-rich parks in the Saskatoon region for the current season. Saskatoon has many riverbank and special naturalized parks that are designed to provide habitat for wild birds. We will walk the park trails looking for songbirds, waterfowl and our nesting falcons. Your guide has spent many years showing birds in this area to visitors. This tour is offered all year. Based upon my longtime experience as a birding guide, the greatest variety of breeding birds of all kinds occurs between May and August. Many warblers, vireos, sparrows and other migratory songbirds may be seen in May and again from mid-August through September. Migratory waterfowl peak during October and November. From November through April, we will look for goldeneye and our special winter birds including Bohemian Waxwings, nuthatches, Red and White-winged Crossbills and other finches, plus Hairy, Downy and sometimes 3-toed woodpeckers, .
Your Saskatoon tour itinerary
To view the greatest variety of birds, the tour itinerary will be adjusted depending upon season or weather. During a typical tour, we will drive to 3 or 4 different parks within the city of Saskatoon giving us time to walk the trails looking for a maximum variety of birds. Tour alterations are also permitted if the traveller wishes to focus on observing particular birds.
