Discover Vidin City with a local guide!

VIDIN, port city on the right bank of the Danube in N. W. Bulgaria. A huge Jewish community has lived here and my practice as a guide connected me with some amazing (and famous globally) people whose roots are to be found in my birth town. Born in Vidin, Bulgaria, and raised in Vienna, Austria, the man called Lynn emigrated to the United States in 1939. An expert in sales and marketing, Lynn and two other men created the DHL courier service in 1969. Let me show you around the only well preserved medieval Bulgarian fortified castle here, on the banks of the river. The legends say a Bulgarian king who ruled at Vidin had three daughters: Vida, Kula and Gamza. Prior to his death, he divided his realm among the three. Vida, the eldest, was given Vidin. As Gamza and Kula married to drunkard, wasteful and warlike nobles, Vida remained unmarried, built the fortress and thus saved part of her daddy's lands.

Pick up the guests, Start Point-the Jewish monument in the center, then see some houses used to be owned by Jews; walk around the quarter of the former Jewish population, see the public bath, Baba Vida Castle, the Synagogue, the Epigraphic museum, the place where a famous Jewish painter used to live and his monument.
