Tiwanaku was the oldest culture in America, with 27 half centuries of duration from 1580 B. C. to 1172 A. D. The pre-Hispanic city of Tiwanaku, located in the department of La Paz, near Lake Titicaca, was the capital of an extensive Andean state that included the western part of Bolivia, the Argentine northeast, the Litoral coast of Chile, and from Copiapo toward the northern Atacama desert, considered as one of the most important culture in the Americas. It made great advances in science, architecture, engineering, astronomy, religion, philosophy and art, and created a unique technique to cultivate the land, and 't's among the greatest ancient civilizations of the world, which are distinguished by constructions of pyramidal temples, semiuderground temples, monuments made of sand stone, andesite stones and basalt, the hardest volcanically stone. Do not miss to visit Puma Punku, is the name of a large complex of temples, and it's part of a larger archaeological site known as Tiahuanacu.
We pick you up from your hotel and start the tour to Tiwanaku, on way we will stop on Lloko Lloko hill (ritual place for the local people) to take pictures or just to observe the landscape. Arrival to Tiwanaku, we will visit the ceramic and lithic museums, then the archeological center where are the Kalasasaya temple, Akapana Pyramid, Semiunderground temple. Will have lunch in a restaurant in town, to then visit Puma Punku, the most important achievement of this ancient civilization. After this we will departure toward La Paz and drop you off in your hotel. Tour can be customized upon request.
