I'm a Welsh-speaking Welshman who's now an honorary local of Trevelin, a small town in Andean Patagonia founded by a pioneering group of Welsh explorers in the late 19th Century. Join me as we explore this lesser-known area of Patagonia, and experience first-hand its rich history, its unique fusion of cultures and its extraordinary wildlife and natural history. I'm passionate about all things natural history and wildlife-related, and have previously spent time at Los Alerces National Park as a volunteer in the conservation department. I'd be delighted to share with you the wonders of this corner of Patagonia, from the National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site considered to be one of Argentina's most beautiful National Parks - to lesser known tracks and trails, steeped in history and bristling with wildlife. As you become immersed in the local culture, you'll have the opportunity to meet some of the people that make this place what it is, from gauchos to galensos. 1st Class Degree in Nature Conservation from Aberystwyth University, Wales (2013). Full UK Driving Licence & Accredited DriveTech 4x4 Off Road Driver (UK, 2015). Certificate of accomplishment as Los Alerces National Park volunteer (July - December 2016). I am currently not licensed as an official tour guide by the Province of Chubut, therefore group sizes are limited to 5 at the every most.

Los Rifleros ('The Riflemen') was an expedition group charged with the task of finding fertile lands in Patagonia's untamed West, back in 1865. Follow in their footsteps as we take the 65km 'Huella de Los Rifleros' (Riflemen's Footprints) track and descend into Cwm Hyfryd ('Lovely Vale') from the stunning foothills of the Andean cordillera. As we make our way past vast estancias, meandering creeks and craggy clifftops, we'll be scouting the surrounding landscape for local bird species such as the impressive black-chested buzzard-eagle (Geranoaetus melanoleucus), the flamboyant Chilean flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis) and the undisputed king of the Andean skies, the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus).
0900 - Hotel pickup. 1030 - Arrive at the Huella de los Rifleros (Riflemen's Footprints) starting point. 1230 - Picnic lunch. 1630 - Arrive at Trevelin and hotel drop-off. The itinerary can be customized according to your preferences and interests.
