As the daughter of immigrants from the Netherlands, I grew up in a 100% Dutch home in an area of Northern Michigan with very few Dutch people. So, when I discovered Holland, Michigan, I felt I was finally home! I love Holland and I am energized to tell others about this vibrant town! And after living here for more than 35 years, I think I count as a local now. :) I have a passion for the hiSTORY (emphasis on "story") of this town, as well as its art and architecture. It is absolutely delightful to show my tour guests the hidden gems of Holland and help them understand the significance of each one. The natural beauty of Holland is outstanding as well, featuring the amazing Lake Michigan shoreline and our own Lake Macatawa. Oh, and let's not forget FOOD! I am a foodie and I feel that in order to fully experience a locality, guests must taste the local flavors as well. So, many of my tours include a food element (or two or more!). For leisure, I enjoy reading, biking, kayaking and napping (not simultaneously). I love to laugh and appreciate the opportunity to do so with my tour guests. I graduated from our local hometown college (Hope College) with a degree in Communications. I successfully completed the course to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador. I serve on the Ambassador Team for the local West Coast Chamber of Commerce. I have five years of experience as a Tour Guide. None.
