Guide #18705
I regret that at the end of 2024 I will cease "driver guiding" around Wales but I will stay on as a guide for local tours or groups that have their own transport. So please book for this year!! I have had a wonderfully diverse career, from fruit farming, to healthcare and education. All of the elements have enhanced my guiding knowledge. I originally trained as a nurse in London, then gained a BA Hons in History at Exeter University before raising a family and running a fruit farm for 20 years. Then I became a Chair of NHS Health Boards in South Wales. I was appointed to the Council of Cardiff University because of my NHS interests and the largest employer in Wales. My love of the history and geography of Wales has increased with age and I am so thrilled now to have time to share this passion with visitors. I am learning the whole time - I will never know everything but happy to share all the delightful stories and facts that I do have with you my guests. Please let me know in advance if you have particular interests as I love researching new areas and histories. My own relaxations are cycling (not steep hills) Scottish country dancing, gardening, opera, plays, and terribly sentimental TV series ! My children are currently scattered over the world so I travel a lot to see them. Here are a couple of comments from my guests in the last two years "It was just a delight to meet you . You're an amazing combination of historian, political analyst, and a really charming person. . . to say nothing of the fact that you have unparalleled driving skills. Our day traveling around South Wales was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you so much for making it such a meaningful" "Many thanks to you for making our Wales tour such an adventure. We know that planning the details of a trip involves a lot of work, but you made it look easy. Your dual role of driver and guide is also not an easy task but you again made it look easy, when we know it's not. We were very lucky to have you as a guide, since you seemed to anticipate our interests and seemed to know every hidden spot in Wales. " Blue Badge for Wales 2015. Foundation degree in Professional Tourist Guiding. BA Hons Hist 1977 Accredited Driver Guide in own car Toyota Corolla Hybrid 3 pax. St Johns Cymru one day first aid course 2020 I am only accredited to guide in Wales but am happy to collect from Bristol airport at normal taxi rates My car can carry 2-3 passengers comfortably.

Terrible day of pouring rain - nothing Fiona or we could do about that! She was very kind & knowlegable. We felt a bit rushed in the museum, but it was an exceptional museum!
Fiona was a wonderful, charming lady that provided my wife and I with an amazing walking tour around Cardiff. She is very knowledgeable, extremely pleasant to be with and provided us with everything we could have asked for and more. I couldn’t rate her or this tour higher. It was definitely a 10! She was amazing. Thank you Fiona!

Dear Alan and Jeanette - that was such a kind review - thank you. The truth is that it is the travellers who make the day and you were a delight to be with . Have a wonderful time tomorrow. sincerely Fiona
We had many tour guides on our three week vacation but Fiona was the BEST! We had such a great time talking to her and we learned so much on our trip. She was incredibly accommodating and squeezed in extra things for us. Overall, she was a 10/10 and we highly recommend her as a tour guide. You will not be disappointed.
