Hello dear friends and travelers, welcome to one of the undiscovered gems of Europe, the heart-shaped peninsula of Istria. I have been working as a tour guide/tour leader for 14 years now- touring northern Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Montenegro with groups from all corners of this colorful planet. I studied law at Zagreb University in Croatia, but as it turned out that was not to be my calling. I have dedicated many years of my life to travelling extensively, studying languages and sharing my knowledge&experience with people who want to know more about the place I call home. Home is where the heart is: and now I know that Rovinj and Istria are the places that need me as much as I need them. It took me a while to understand that- my town (Rovinj) is a place of not more than 15 000 residents that felt too small when I was very young and that seemed to preclude me from doing the things I would have desired back then. I needed wings- and so I left. Ten years, four learnt languages and more than sixty visited countries later there I was, on the doorstep of what was to become my permanent address. The place that seemed to limit me eventually gave me wings. The culture of the region of Istria encompasses the intricate cultural, culinary, architectural and spiritual heritage of all the civilizations that crossed their paths in this green-blue pearl washed by the Adriatic. This area, of no more than 1080 mi 2 preserves remains of the ancient Histri culture from the iron age, roman structures, byzantine monuments, Venitian Romanesque and Gothic both sacred and civil buildings, churches, frescoes and renaissance basilicas. Let's not forget the uniqueness of this mixture of slavic (croatian) and latino (italian) cultural influences. When I explain and clarify (and there is nothing I love doing more) I not only show what I know- I immerse people in the world I live in. My stories make them be a roman gladiator, a byzantine bishop, a truffle hunter, an Austrian aristocrat from the late 19th century. I adapt both my stories and the way I communicate depending on the clients' country of origin, language and sense of humour. Let's have a cappuccino together, in Rovinj- the most beautiful little and undiscovered town of Europe. Licensed guide in Istria county (Croatia) since 2005 and tour leader in Croatia with a 14 year experience in working as a guide on private tours.
