Hi! My name is Thu Tong, and I’m a local tour guide based in Nha Trang. I didn’t start my journey in tourism — at first, I studied to become an English teacher at university. But after just one year, I realized it wasn’t the right path for me. I made a bold decision to take a gap year (which is quite uncommon for most Asian students) and moved over 1,000 kilometers away from home to work as a tour guide in a hostel in Northern Vietnam. That experience opened my heart to travel, connection, and the beauty of sharing Vietnam with the world. When I came home, my photo album was filled with pictures of me standing with foreigners — 10, 12 people at a time! I never knew why I did that, but now it feels like destiny.
