Born and raised in Hawaii with a business degree from the University of Hawaii, I have lived on Kauai for over 30 years and have an extensive background in local history, business, real estate and politics. In fact there is almost no question I can't answer, so fire away! Let me tell you about the rise and fall of the sugar industry in Hawaii and how it was responsible for the beautiful ethnic diversity of the islands and how it led directly to Hawaii becoming the 50th state of the United States. I can tell you how much it costs to live in Hawaii and what it is really like to live here. I'll tell you about the features that are unique to Kauai due to the fact that Kauai is the oldest of the major Hawaiian islands. Learn about how the Hawaiian people had no concept of private property ownership prior to the arrival of westerners and how it impacts real estate ownership to this day. I guarantee that by the end of your tour, you will feel that you have learned many fascinating things about what is arguably the most beautiful place on the planet.

This tour ventures to some of the island's most spectacular destinations, including Waimea Canyon, Kalalau Valley and the Spouting Horn. After visiting Kauai Coffee Plantation with complimentary coffee tasting and a walking tour we will head to the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. With its vibrant red soil and amazing greenery, it definitely is one of the most spectacular sights on the island. We will stop for lunch at the Waimea town and explore historic Hanapepe town before driving to to the South Shore of Kauai to visit the famous Spouting Horn—one of the island's most photographed spots and where ocean waves send a geyser into the air. We will see Hawaiian green sea turtles.

Wonderful day tour. Jon was on time and knew what and when we needed to get to, to be on time for our ship departure. It was beautiful weather and we were able to go and see everything on his list. He knew all the perfect picture taking spots as well. He has a very comfortable car for touring as well. He took us to an amazing lunch spot that we will have great memories of. Thank you Jon
Jon was an excellent guide for our day in Kauai — truly a 5 out of 5 experience. He had the perfect balance of being really informative while also knowing when to step back and just let us take in the beauty of the island. We never felt rushed, and he was very flexible with what we wanted to see, which made the whole day feel relaxed and personalized. He was especially accommodating with my mom, who is in a wheelchair, and made sure everything was comfortable and easy for her. That meant a lot to us. Jon was also incredibly knowledgeable — anytime we had questions about the area, he had thoughtful, helpful answers, but never overwhelmed us with too much information. His minivan was very comfortable, and he provided water and snacks, which was a nice touch. He also offered to stop for lunch, but honestly, there’s so much to see in Kauai that we just wanted to keep going! We saw so much of the island and felt like we got a really great experience because of him. I would absolutely recommend Jon to anyone visiting Kauai!
Absolutely stellar day! Jon picked us up at the port, and our day of fun was underway. It’s hard to capture everything in a short review, but Jon delivered on everything in the description and far more. We saw monk seals, sea turtles, Waimea canyon from multiple vantage points (not accessible on a bus tour), water spouts, artists’ village, suspension bridge, watched Jon play with chickens and rescue some baby chicks, multiple waterfalls and so much more. We joked with him about setting expectations (eg he’d say “you can usually see the coast but the clouds might be in” and then we’d pull up to clear skies and a view over two miles to the coast) - and every time, Jon exceeded expectations in every area. We even got a stop in at Walmart (he had drinks and snacks in the vehicle but we wanted some things to take back to the ship). Jon’s experience and homegrown knowledge are second to none. He was able to tell us about the history of the island and the stops we visited along with local lore. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our day with Jon, and we would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a private curated tour of Kauai.
Jon was a wonderful guide for a first time visitor. He was friendly, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. We had a most enjoyable day.
A dream come true! What a fantastic day. Jon is a treasure. He showed us so much in one day. He takes you to places you would miss with big tours. And he knows so much about the island. Best tour ever!
We first head to the Kauai Coffee Company, the largest coffee plantation in the country. 4 million coffee trees on 3,100 acres! At the visitor center, sample a wide variety of the finest local coffee. On our journey to the Waimea Canyon we will stop at 4 beautiful lookouts (including the 800 ft. Waipo'o Waterfalls). Your next stop is the Kalalau Valley Lookout with the incredible views (weather permitting) of the magnificent cliffs of the NaPali Coast. After lunch at the Waimea town and shopping at historic Hanapepe town we will head to the South Shore of Kauai to visit the famous Spouting Horn—one of the island's most photographed spots and where ocean waves send a geyser into the air. We will see Hawaiian green sea turtles.
