I successfully completed the Institute of Tourist Guiding North East England Blue Badge Examinations in August 2021 and am now qualified to take tours throughout the North East of England. This includes site tours of Durham Cathedral, the Laing art gallery, Great North Museum Hancock and Shipley Art Gallery and walking tours of Newcastle upon Tyne, Berwick upon Tweed and Barnard Castle. My hobbies include walking, cycling, touring and supporting Bristol Rovers. I moved to Newcastle upon Tyne in 1984 to go to University and study Mechanical Engineering, and I have stayed here ever since. In 2019, I was considering retirement from a career in Engineering and Project management and I saw an advert for the ITG Blue Badge Tourist guide course for North East England. I am passionate about everything in the North East including its industrial heritage. My special interests include Heritage, Engineering, Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham Cathedral and the Great North Museum Hancock. My aim to all travellers is give you an expression of passion for North East England and its future. ITG Blue Badge North East England I am not a driver. Northumberland Coast and Alnwick, Private Transportation
Overview of your Newcastle tour
This one day tour takes us from Newcastle upon Tyne to the Northumberland Coast and Castles. I will give a panoramic tour of each location giving you the evolving history as well as the current developments. On route to the coastline, you will get to learn the industrial heritage of the North East as well as its links to the growth of Christianity. I will also give a brief walking tour of Alnmouth, Seahouses and Bamburgh describing the perils of the coast as well its artistic and food culture. On route to Alnwick, I will describe the natural environment as well as giving you chance to stop at Chillingham Castle, home of the Wild Cattle of Chillingham. Our final stop is at Alnwick where you will have a choice of visiting the castle or the gardens, home of the Duke of Northumberland.
