I love this tour as its a stunning way to experience the Highlands! We will travel south over the Black Isle, passing through Mackenzie/Fraser land before we start climbing to over 1000ft, where the Mountain views are stunning and onto Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle for a photo stop. (We don't go into this Castle) we then journey north towards Dunrobin Castle. Dunrobin Castle is the historic home of the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland. The foundation stone dates from around 1275. You can take a self-guided tour through the state rooms on the first floor before making your way through the smaller rooms in the older parts of the castle. The views from the castle balcony are stunning. Once you wander through the beautiful gardens, we have the Falconry Display, the professional resident Falconer demonstrates and explains the different hunting methods used by Raptors on show. Every stop affords superb photographic opportunities, from here, its just a wee drive back to your ship or accommodation.
~ Visit Black Isle. It's not an Island and not even black, but when we're all together I shall explain why it's both. ~ Mackenzie/Fraser Land. Made famous in the Diana Gabaldon series of Books and popular TV series, Outlander. ~ Abriachan View Point. Our first photo stop, 1000ft above Loch Ness, with uninterrupted views of the North west Mountains. Photos of the Locals, a herd of Heilan Coos (Highland Cows). ~ Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Dating from the 13c, we have our first photo stop, time to take in the past 700 years with loads of photo opportunities. ~ City Of Inverness. A wee drive through, as we travel North, ~ Loch Fleet. A wee stop to try and take a photo of the resident seals and otters and wildlife. ~ Dunrobin Castle and Falconry Display. The 'Jewel in the Crown of the Highlands'. The Castle resembles a French château, with the architectural influences of Sir Charles Barry, who designed London's Houses of Parliament. - From here its just a wee drive back to your ship or accommodation.
