My name is Ertunga and I was born in 1977 in Kusadası, where I still live. I graduated from the University of Philology, Department of English Language and Literature. I worked as an English Teacher for few years but I understood that it is not really what I wanted so I finished my short teaching career. Then I decided to study History and Archaeology and use my knowledge on this field. In 2001 I became professional tour guide, with the license issued by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Since then I have worked for many agencies as an independent guide and I have been meeting tourists from all over the world. During this fourteen years, I have also been organizing private tours, and working with ToursByLocals is perfect option for me. Since I grew up and have lived all my life in a touristic town, guiding has always been my dream. Very early I understood that it would be the most convenient job for my lifestyle, because I like history, archaeology, traveling and meeting different people and cultures, and the most important of everything, I love my country and want to help people see it's beauty and understand it's history and culture and at the same time, earning money from what I really enjoy doing; is a great feeling. I have guiding experience in all areas in Turkey, but my favorite tours are definitely those in the Aegean and Istanbul. Ephesus used to be an important Roman city; nowadays its ruins are among the most visited ancient sites in the world. Once home to 250. 000 people, an important trade and pilgrimage center, today it is one of the highlight sites in Turkey. We usually spend about 2 hours in Ephesus, and the highlights of the site are Terrace Houses (rich Ephesians houses), Library of Celsus (the 3rd largest library in the ancient world), Grand Theater (mentioned in Bible), Temple of Hadrian, Trajan fountain. . . Depending on your interests and availability, you can visit other sites around. Ephesus is close to the port, so you will have enough time to really enjoy this tour, understand the importance of the historical events there and take good memories home. As a local guide, I can give you information not only about recent excavations and findings but also about modern-day life in this part of Turkey. Walking in the streets of Ephesus while you listen about the daily life of Ephesians is a unique journey to the past!

Five starts are not enough to rate Ertunga. He was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Our ship changed the day we were supposed to be in Kusadasi and he accommodated that in a second. Also one of us sprang her ankle in the old city of Ephesus and he immediately arranged the driver to get her back to the ship. He was also very knowledgeable about the history and made the tour unforgettable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Your Kusadasi tour itinerary
-I will meet you in Kusadasi port; there is 20 minutes driving to the Ephesus area. -We will first visit Ephesus (we usually spend about 2 hours there). -Afterward, depending on your interests and available time, you can have lunch and then visit other sites in the area: Virgin Mary's House, Temple of Artemis, Basilica of St. John, Ephesus indoor Museum. . . We usually spend 30-45 minutes in each additional site. This is a private tour so you can decide about the itinerary. We do not limit your time for sightseeing. -At the end of the tour we will drop you off at Kusadasi port. Feel free to contact me if you would like to customize this tour!
