Greetings from Istanbul! Dear traveller, first of all thank you for choosing my city as your next destination and welcome to my page! I'm Gülizar but everybody calls me 'Gül' which means Rose in English. I was a huge fan of Istanbul since my childhood so right after I finished my studies, I moved to Istanbul (in 2016) and I've been living here ever since. I got married 3 years ago and my husband and I are both tour guides and we have a year old baby girl called : ''Daphne''. I like cooking and I love reading about history, especially about my land but written by writers from other countries. It helps me to get an idea of how the other people had seen what was happening here. As it's Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul is getting all the attentions and I consider myself Istanbul's storyteller. My subject matter is my town. It is my job to share the hidden patterns of my city's clandestine corners, its shady, mysterious places, the things I love. I've been working since I was eleven years old. I started with cleaning the dishes in a restaurant, I worked at McDonald's when I was in high school. Then I spent some years working at 5*hotels as a receptionist until I became a tour guide. I studied Foreign Languages at High School and I was a huge fan of Friends! (I still am) That's how I improved my English. I'm also fluent in Mandarin. My friends dared me to learn Chinese in four months and I did it! ( that was the biggest challenge of my life) I have a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Guidance and I'm about to finish my Master studies in Prehistoric Archaeology. I had a great passion and curiosity about ''the past'' when I was a kid ( I still have it :) ) and I was eager to share it with my friends and family. After all these studies and readings, I ended up being a tour guide because I wanted to share my my knowledge and experience of my motherland with travellers from all around the world. I used to lead tours all around Turkey (cities like; Izmir, Cappadocia , Pamukkale etc. ) but after getting married I chose to stay in Istanbul so that I could go home every day. And now there's a year old waiting for me to come home. I love travelling a lot! My husband and I try to travel at least two or three countries every year so I believe I totally understand what you expect from a local guide when you come to Istanbul. I believe that a tour isn't just about seeing a place; it's about experiencing it, on the ground. Istanbul has so many sights to see, and so many ways to see them. Maps, guide books, etc. can cover only the basics. I aim to offer something more personal and fun. . . and ultimately memorable. Before you book the tour, please contact me first to see if we can customize it together and please feel yourself comfortable to ask me if you need any recommendations for anything about your holiday here. Hope to see you in Istanbul soon, My best wishes, Gül (Rose) Licensed by Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Member of the Union of Tourist Guide Chambers Due to the regulations declared by the government, some of the museums might be closed depending on the date of the tour. Please contact me for the further details. For instance ; Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays

We'll visit the Old City, also known as Historical Peninsula on our first day, this is the oldest part of Istanbul encircled by the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Marmara Sea. Second day gives you the opportunity of trying some local street food and see the landmarks after we visit the new palace and the stunning Bosphorus!

Rose was professional, knowledgeable, and at the same time warm and friendly. My wife and I were celebrating our 35 th Wedding Anniversary and she took the time to present us with a special cake custom made from her favorite local bakery. At the end of the tour our whole group felt they had made a new friend. Anyone looking to see Istanbul from top to bottom should not hesitate to book a two day Istanbul Tour with Rose.

Gül led us for two wonderful days in Istanbul as we explored historic palaces, mosques, the Spice Market, Grand Bazaar, and other sites while we laughed, experienced traditional food, and learned so much about the culture. The tours were totally flexible and customized, and Gül shared her love and extensive knowledge of historic and modern Türkiye. Join Gül for an unforgettable experience no matter how much time you have in Istanbul. You will be enriched beyond expectations.

As my wife put it, Gul (aka Rose) was a find. She is very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. She accommodated our speed (slow) and wishes. She introduced us to some very beautiful and serene mosques without the crowds, plus some of the best beans ever. We greatly enjoyed both our days with Gul, and she provided detailed information to help us on our day by ourselves. We highly recommend Gul (Rose).

We spent two wonderful days exploring Istanbul with Rose! She is the absolute best! We were two couples, and Istanbul was the start of our travels before embarking on a cruise. From our very first communication, Rose went above and beyond, getting to know our interests to customize our time together. She was easy to communicate with, kind, and personable. By the time we arrived in Istanbul, it was like meeting up with a close friend. Everything was meticulously taken care of for us – our airport transfer, our entry tickets, a private cruise of the Bosphorus, meeting us early for a Turkish breakfast, and making sure we tried all the best foods along the way. We loved Rose’s enthusiasm and her passion for Turkish history and culture. We couldn’t have hoped for a better tour guide than Rose, and we made a friend that we look forward to staying in touch with and seeing again.

Rose (Gulizar) was a fantastic and welcoming host to Istanbul. Her knowledge of the culture and history is extensive (she has a Master's in Archeology), which appealed to my family greatly. Her real talent is not just a deep knowledge bench but the ability to convey that knowledge in a meaningful and understandable way. She also did a fantastic job helping my family with shopping and taking us to some incredible places to enjoy local Turkish food. But the singular thing she did that was both unique and impactful is making us feel like part of her family and helping us feel like we were locals for our short time in Istanbul. I can't recommend her enough, and would encourage anyone visiting Istanbul (especially families) to hire her as a guide. If she appears booked, reach out to her anyways, her husband is also a great tours by locals guide.

In addition to our five star review of Gül - she was knowledgeable about all aspects of Turkish society, she was prepared with a list of activities and options for our 3 days with her, she was attentive towards our specific requests. She was all we could have asked in a private guide. We will certainly use her again should we return to Istanbul, and we will certainly use Tours By Locals again. If Gül is an example, they have very high standards, indeed.
