Bagamoyo's eighteenth- and nineteenth-century coral houses, which were unique to Swahili construction, served as a backdrop to East Africa's slave trade and were both beautiful and unsettling. My first time in this town was 15 years ago, ever since then, the town has left me with amazing memories that I could not get enough of. It's in this town where Native, Arab, and Portuguese traders gathered slaves from the interior of Africa at Bagamoyo port for shipping to Zanzibar, which began providing slave labor for local plantations, European possessions in Africa, and a limited number of American plantations in the 1700s. As it was to me 15 years ago, but today as your local guide, this tour will allow you to explore the city and introduce you to the slave trade that took place in this city. With its unique nature, lovely community members, and a number of historical sites, this trip will leave you enlightened about the historical nature of this town and local experience of coastal Tanzania.
- Meeting at the Dar es Salaam port. - Drive over to Bagamoyo about a 1:40 hrs drive from Dar es Salaam City - Along the way to Bagamoyo you will experience the beauty of the local surroundings Throughout the trip, you should expect to see and learn about slavery business conducted in the past, visiting Kaole ruins, Old Fort in East Africa, Dr Livingstone's church, fish market, beautiful shores of Bagamoyo, learn the history of Caravanserai and old buildings built from the Slavery era. In the evening we'll drive back to Dar es Salaam and you will be dropped off at the port.
