AYUBOWAN! Welcome to Sri Lanka! Hello, I’m Suneth, a proud Sri Lankan, a licensed tour guide, and someone who has had the privilege of sharing my beautiful country with travelers for over 25 years. I believe the best journeys are not simply about visiting places and taking photographs. They are about the stories you hear, the people you meet, the food you taste, the unexpected moments, and the memories you take home. Born and raised in Colombo, I grew up surrounded by Sri Lanka’s fascinating mix of history, culture, traditions, and natural beauty. My curiosity about the world took me far beyond Sri Lanka when I received a scholarship to study in Japan, where I spent six wonderful years at university. Living in Japan gave me a valuable opportunity to experience another culture from the inside and taught me to look at my own country from a different perspective. When I returned home, I decided to turn my love for Sri Lanka into a career. I completed the National Tour Guide Lecturer training conducted by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), successfully passed the examinations, and became a licensed tour guide. Since then, I have spent almost 25 years meeting and accompanying travelers from all corners of the world. Every person I meet brings a different story, a different curiosity, and a different way of seeing the world. In return, I enjoy introducing them to the Sri Lanka I know and love, not only the famous sights, but also the places, stories, traditions, and experiences that can easily be missed. Sri Lanka may be a small island, but it is incredibly diverse. Within a relatively short journey, you can discover ancient kingdoms and sacred temples, mist-covered mountains and tea plantations, tropical forests filled with wildlife, traditional villages, vibrant cities, and beautiful beaches stretching along the Indian Ocean. And that is what I love about being a guide. I don't want you to simply see Sri Lanka. I want you to understand it, experience it, and feel connected to it. I value honesty, humility, respect, and genuine hospitality. My aim is to make your time in Sri Lanka comfortable, interesting, and memorable—while allowing you the freedom to enjoy the journey at your own pace. So, whether you are fascinated by history and culture, passionate about wildlife and nature, looking for beautiful landscapes and photography opportunities, or simply want to experience everyday Sri Lankan life, I would be delighted to share my island with you. Academic Qualifications in Tourism • Registration # NTGL-0701: National Tourist Guide Lecturer certified by SLTDA since 1998. • OTHM Higher Diploma: Graduated in Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality Management in London, 2007. • Ornithologist: Professional certification as a member of the Ornithology Group of Colombo University, lifetime membership since 2010. • Gemologist: Certified Gemologist by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewelry Authority.
