Hello, everybody! I have been a guide for over 20 years and still love to tour the island with our visitors. I am proud of the island where I was born and have been living all my life, except for a few years at the university, one year in Cardiff and a summer in Norway to guide the cruise passengers. There are many beautiful places all over the world and Lanzarote is really a unique landscape. Until the 50's our main concern was to survive, many emigrated to America and did not return. In those days we did not know the potential of Lanzarote as a holiday destination. We learned it later when César Manrique taught us to see the beauty of a volcanic stone, to value our local agriculture and architecture and encouraged us to protect the island's landscape for future generations. The eruptions of Timanfaya 300 years ago forced half the population to leave the island and try to make a living away from Lanzarote. However, part of my family remained, enduring the 6 endless years during which 25 volcanoes buried 11 villages and the best farmland. On this tour you will not only enjoy lunar landscapes of unique beauty. By visiting the national park you will also understand what the eruptions of Timanfaya mean to us. Once inside the Timanfaya National Park we'll test the high temperatures recorded just below the earth's surface, followed by a tour around the amazing and unforgettable Route of the volcanoes. A photo-stop will be made at the beautiful volcano El Golfo, well known for its green lagoon. Continuing along the rugged coastline we'll see a stunning panoramic view of Los Hervideros with its many tidal pools and the salt flats of Janubio, the largest in the Canary Islands. In the way back to Arrecife, we'll drive and stop at La Geria the wine district.
This was a wonderful tour. Angela speaks terrific English (she spent a year studying English in Wales) and has a lot of interesting information to offer about the different places we went and the history of the island. She also made sure to get us in the two front rows of the bus that goes into the volcanic national park.
on behalf of John, Dana and Wayde: Our day in Lanzarote was excellent from start to finish. Angela was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to spend the day with. She shared a lot of interesting information about the island and kept the tour moving at a very comfortable pace. One of the highlights for us was seeing the steam shoot out of the pipes and feeling the heat coming from the lava rocks. It was quite impressive and a reminder that the volcanic activity is still very much present beneath the surface. We were also fascinated by the vineyards, where the vines grow low to the ground and are protected by small stone walls from the strong winds. All in all, it was a very enjoyable day and a great introduction to Lanzarote.
Had a good day on Lanzarote, the National Park was a must see. Enjoyed the local cuisine, a lunch by the sea!
My family (three persons) booked on two separate days two private tours on Lanzarote with Angela Tejera, one for the Northern part and one for the Southern part of the island. Both tours were absolutely perfect. Angela is an excellent driver/guide going to the right places (including advice on restaurants) and helping fast access to places like the Timanfaya National Volcanoes Park, the Jardìn de Cactus, Jameos del Agua, etc. In-depth knowledge of the island, of the life of the local artist Manrique and many other aspects of the life in Lanzarote. Excellent knowledge of English. Highly recommended.
This was our first time to Lanzarote. The tour was a very good introduction to the island and its history. The "buses only" drive through Timanfaya National Park was very scenic.
Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Lanzarote with Daniel. His enthusiasm and passion for his country was contagious as he shared the many beautiful sights in and around Timanfaya. We traveled in comfort with a skilled driver in a spacious and clean minibus. Couldn't have asked for a nicer first visit to Lanzarote!
