Hello ! You can call me Bart. I have lived in Lodz for all my life. I like travelling, foreign languages and history. Lodz as well as Manchester was famous for the biggest textile factories in the 19th century. There are still many interesting places and monuments reminding us about that time. Apart from that the city was a mixture of German, Jewish and Polish culture. It was one of the largest Polish cities and one of the most multicultural and industrial centers in Europe. I would be really happy to welcome you in Lodz and show you around the city. I am sure we will be able to discover all the places which will take us back to the interesting times. Contact me with any questions. I look forward to providing you with a memorable and exciting visit. Master Digree in International Relations I am not allowed to guide in local museums

Overview of your Lodz tour

Before WWII Lodz was inhabited by 35 % of Jews. Jewish culture was present here for ages. Nowadays many monuments and signs reminds us about the history. During our trip we will discover the biggest Jewish cemetery in Poland. We will explore later the territory of Jewish Ghetto in Lodz and Radegast train station, which reminds us about the trains that were departing to Auschwitz. . . The Survivors' park would be also a place worth visiting. We will also have a chance to go through the former Nazi-camp for children. I live in the district of former Lodz Ghetto since 34 years ago, so I really know the area very well!. I can share with You many stories. My family is originally from Lodz. You will really enjoy the trip.

Bart was an engaging, thoughtful guide who went out of his way to show us all the sights of Jewish Lodz. He helped us try to whack the weeds and brush to find the graves of our ancestors in the cemetery and steered us to an excellent restaurant in town.

This tour was an absolutely wonderful experience, and we enthusiastically recommend our guide, Bart. Because my parents grew up in Łódź and the nearby town of Pabianice, I had specific sites that I wanted to see, and Bart arranged for us to see them all, even going to my mother’s childhood home in advance to request that we be allowed to enter. He and I sent several messages between us prior to our visit, and he was always quick to reply and responsive to my requests. Though Bart had indicated that we would spend nine hours on our tour, it turned out to be closer to twelve. Because of my family’s personal history with the area, I tended to move more slowly through sites than other visitors probably would, and I appreciated Bart’s patience as I searched for traces of family history. There is not enough space to give additional details, but we give Bart our highest recommendation!

Bart is truly an extraordinary guide, and my mother and I will never forget our time with him in Łódź. From the moment we met, his warmth, knowledge, and dedication were unmatched. He listened carefully to what we wanted, then went above and beyond—taking us not only to my grandmother’s street, but also to the bridge she likely crossed when leaving the ghetto, the place where her family boarded the train, and even to where my great-great-grandfather was buried in 1938. His historical insights were rich and fascinating. What left me in awe was his willingness to trek with me through shrubbery taller than us, determined to help me reach the edge of the cemetery in hopes of finding the burial plot. That level of care and commitment is simply rare. Bart doesn’t just guide tours—he preserves memory and connects people to their past in the most human way possible. Unforgettable!

Bart gave me a wonderful day of touring in the towns from which my great-grandfather came to America. Bart is thorough, careful, extremely knowledgeable, and I recommend him highly and without hesitation. This was a day i will longremember.

We grabbed a train for the easy 80-minute trip to Lodz, with Bart meeting us at the station. Combining his tours of Jewish Lodz and Lodz as a major manufacturing town was perfect for us. There really is little left of Jewish Warsaw except for monuments/museums. This is not the case for Lodz where many prewar buildings remain. Bart was extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter, a good driver, spoke perfect English, and was very responsive to our needs. Although the tour is marketed for those staying in Lodz. it is an ideal side trip from Warsaw and we consider our time in Lodz as one of the highlights of our trip.
