Hello travelers! My name is Jesus, and I grew up in Puerto Maldonado, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Since childhood, the rainforest has been my home and my greatest source of learning. While my parents worked in the jungle, I explored every corner, fascinated by the surrounding wildlife. I learned to recognize bird songs, interpret the sounds of the forest, and understand the delicate balance of this ecosystem. Even today, I feel the same excitement every time I enter the jungle, and my passion is sharing that connection with those who visit us. Since 2003, I have worked as a guide specializing in ecotourism, birdwatching, and wildlife photography expeditions. In 2015, I became an independent guide and experience creator, designing my own routes to provide a more authentic connection with nature. I am a Certified Tour Guide with an official license since 2015 and a member of the Madre de Dios Guide Association. I speak fluent English, can converse in French, and understand Portuguese, allowing me to connect with travellers from all over the world and share my knowledge in different languages. My tours in the Tambopata National Reserve offer unique experiences in one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. What sets my expeditions apart is that I work with small groups and at less crowded times, ensuring a more intimate atmosphere and better wildlife observation opportunities. I also have my own boat, which allows me to take travellers to lesser-explored areas where nature remains in its purest state. My wildlife photography and birdwatching tours are designed for those seeking to spot iconic species such as the harpy eagle, macaws, toucans, and giant river otters. I also offer night explorations to observe caimans, fluorescent frogs, and other creatures that come to life in the darkness of the rainforest. Beyond wildlife observation, my expeditions provide authentic cultural experiences with local communities, where travellers can learn about medicinal plants, traditional fishing techniques, and the way of life of Amazonian families. I am also committed to responsible tourism, minimizing our environmental impact and ensuring that our visits benefit local communities. Every detail of my tours is carefully designed to offer a deeper, more respectful, and enriching experience. If you are looking to explore the Amazon in an authentic way, with a local guide who knows every corner and every sound of the jungle, I would be delighted to accompany you on this adventure.

Venture into the Amazon at Lake Yacumama, a secluded oxbow lake surrounded by untouched forest. If you did this tour at dawn, you could paddle across misty waters with the jungle awakening with the calls of parrots, herons, kingfishers, and oropendolas. If you did it at dawn, you'd see the sky come alive with parrot flocks returning to roost, filling the air with vibrant colors & sounds. I invite you to navigate silently by paddle canoe, exploring hidden corners of the lake while spotting macaws soaring overhead plus hawks perched along the lake shore & among the surrounding plants. Along the way, you'll get to try traditional piranha fishing using local techniques guided by an expert. As we continue paddling trying to spot caimans along the calm waters, their eyes reflecting under the lights. This eco-friendly journey offers incredible chances for fishing, birdwatching, caiman spotting and wildlife photography. Note: Monkeys are not common here; Lake Yacumama is best known for its rich birdlife.
This tour has 2 potential itineraries, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. -In the morning alternative, we'd begin with an early morning pickup and 30 min long transfer to Lake Yacumama. -On arrival, we'd do a paddle canoe exploration followed by bird watching. -About an hour later we could try some traditional piranha fishing with local techniques. -Lastly, we'd do our final bird sightings before returning to your hotel. -The afternoon option also consists on a hotel pickup and transfer to the lake, with an arrival accompanied by the dim afternoon lights. -We'll proceed to do some canoe navigation watching parrots, macaws, herons and hawks, also followed by piranha fishing guided by an expert. -We'd wrap up the tour with beautiful sunset views before returning to your hotel.

Besides a paddle canoe, we'd use a private, air-conditioned SUV or H1 Hyundai minivan depending on group size. Vehicles are modern, clean, comfortable, and equipped with seat-belts and large windows for scenic views. All units are regularly maintained and driven by experienced local drivers. For groups up to 4 people, we'd use a 4x4 SUV; for larger groups, a spacious minivan would be provided. Transfers are smooth, safe, and designed for short distances around Puerto Maldonado.
