Hello travelers! My name is Jesus, and I grew up in Puerto Maldonado, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Since childhood, the rainforest has been my home and my greatest source of learning. While my parents worked in the jungle, I explored every corner, fascinated by the surrounding wildlife. I learned to recognize bird songs, interpret the sounds of the forest, and understand the delicate balance of this ecosystem. Even today, I feel the same excitement every time I enter the jungle, and my passion is sharing that connection with those who visit us. Since 2003, I have worked as a guide specializing in ecotourism, birdwatching, and wildlife photography expeditions. In 2015, I became an independent guide and experience creator, designing my own routes to provide a more authentic connection with nature. I am a Certified Tour Guide with an official license since 2015 and a member of the Madre de Dios Guide Association. I speak fluent English, can converse in French, and understand Portuguese, allowing me to connect with travellers from all over the world and share my knowledge in different languages. My tours in the Tambopata National Reserve offer unique experiences in one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. What sets my expeditions apart is that I work with small groups and at less crowded times, ensuring a more intimate atmosphere and better wildlife observation opportunities. I also have my own boat, which allows me to take travellers to lesser-explored areas where nature remains in its purest state. My wildlife photography and birdwatching tours are designed for those seeking to spot iconic species such as the harpy eagle, macaws, toucans, and giant river otters. I also offer night explorations to observe caimans, fluorescent frogs, and other creatures that come to life in the darkness of the rainforest. Beyond wildlife observation, my expeditions provide authentic cultural experiences with local communities, where travellers can learn about medicinal plants, traditional fishing techniques, and the way of life of Amazonian families. I am also committed to responsible tourism, minimizing our environmental impact and ensuring that our visits benefit local communities. Every detail of my tours is carefully designed to offer a deeper, more respectful, and enriching experience. If you are looking to explore the Amazon in an authentic way, with a local guide who knows every corner and every sound of the jungle, I would be delighted to accompany you on this adventure.

Overview of your Puerto Maldonado tour

Venture deep into the Tambopata National Reserve to witness one of the most breathtaking wildlife spectacles in the Amazon. This early morning excursion is ideal for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and those with limited time who wish to experience the rain forest at its most active and vibrant hour. The sunrise river journey we will be partaking on is ideal for spotting capybaras, caimans, monkeys, and birds along the banks! On a personal note, besides being a certified guide, I'm proud to have been specialized in ecotourism and birdwatching for over 2 decades now. Besides this, it is worth mentioning that this is the only tour I offer that includes a dedicated effort to search for jaguars!

Your Puerto Maldonado tour itinerary

·After an early morning hotel pick-up, we'll drive to the Tambopata River port in Filadelfia. ·On arrival, we'll go on board a motorized canoe. ·Later, at the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, we'll get to observe flocks of scarlet, plus blue and yellow as well as red-and-green macaws descending to feed on mineral-rich clay. ·After this natural display, we'll enjoy a riverside picnic breakfast. ·The experience continues with a slow boat exploration focused on riverbank wildlife—capybaras, tapir tracks, and with luck, the elusive jaguar. ·At last, we'll be returning to Puerto Maldonado around midday. Note: To ensure we reach the Clay Lick area at the time when the macaws begin to gather, this tour is set with an hour start range of 2:30 - 3:30 am. However, if you would like to do the tour on a different time regardless, contact me and I can customize a different schedule for you.
