I start working as a guide 30 years ago, when I just got out of high school, dealing with sailors and yachters from all around the world. My job consisted of taking them around to the local officials to do their paper work in order to transit the Panama Canal. I also helped them find parts and supplies, linehandling there boats true the Canal. Years later, I stepped into another type of guiding, I started to drive a taxi and I usually offered my services at the local Hotels, taking the customers to places like Portobelo, San Lorenzo, Panama city and other places. I saw the necessity to Learn about these places, so I started buying and studying literature of the most visited sites in Panama, I made excursion almost all around the country. By the year 2000 with the arrival of cruise ships to the port of Colon 2000 and Cristobal, I started to offer my guiding services to the cruise ship passengers. I combined my passion for touring with my permanent job at the Panama Canal, I am a Panama Canal (the best goverment employer in the country) employee for almost 20 years. I born in Panama 49 years ago, I have lived all of my life in this bless country , married. I have six (6) kids (yes six!!!) four boys, two girls, love them all. I live in the country in a small town between Panama city and Colon. I believe that time is one of the biggest value a person have, for me guiding is not about the money, I love people and I love to take them around my country, at that moment I become an ambassador of Panama. My Joy is to know people enjoy my tour and all I did to make sure they get all that I promise to deliver and more, having a good time. Overview of your Colon tour
Founded in 1597 by order of the Spanish Crown for the protection of one of the most important route in the isthmus, wich was used to transport most of the richist (Gold, Silver, etc. ), that the Spanish conqueror was draining out of the Americas (such as the Incas riches). Declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in the year 1980 under the name of the Fortifications on the Caribbean coast of Panama. With Portobello, they formed the defensive system to the transatlantic trade of the Monarchy of Spain. To get there we will pass over the Panama Canal, Gatun Locks and into Fort Sherman, a former military base, surrounded by a thick forest rich in species diversity.

If you are looking for anything that has to do with the Panama Canal, or History of Panama in general, then just stop HERE. Don't know if you could ever find someone more knowledgeable than Clemente. Not only is he knowledgeable but he spent the majority of his career working for the canal. He is really nice and also just a good person that you will feel totally comfortable with. We enjoyed our time with Clemente and his son who was responsible for driving. He made special accommodations as my younger boy hurt himself while surfing so we secured a wheel chair that allow him to get around and experience everything. Lunch came a little later than we would have liked but we also packed two tours into one. he also realized we didn't like the gas station option and quickly pivoted to a great deli. Clemente is a good man with great faith and is passionate about his country.

Your Colon tour itinerary
After meeting and as soon ready, we will depart to our private tour at the Caribbean side of Panama, Panama Canal (Gatun locks), forth San Lorenzo. The San Lorenzo forth is in the boundary of the National park of the same name, wich as a very diverce wild life (birds, monkeys, sloth, armadillo, agouti and moore)if lucky we will encounter some of these. Train ride across the country is optional (cost is extra). The Panama Canal open a new a visitor center on the Atlantic side, this visitor center will give the visitor the oportunity to view the site where the new set of locks is COMPLETED, we would stop at the Agua Clara Visitors Center to take a view at this 5. 4 billion dollars wonder of the Canal expansion.
