In this combination tour we will visit places related to Operation Market Garden and/or the popular serie Band of Brothers. Nijmegen was the first Dutch city to fall into German hands, it was accidentally bombed by American planes and it saw heavy fighting during Operation Market Garden. Arnhem is known for 'a bridge too far'. We can also visit the Airborne Museum Oosterbeek (monumental villa with the world's largest collection of Operation Market Garden memorabilia), Liberation Museum and Canadian War Cemetery in Groesbeek and/or the War Museum in Overloon. Walda is an art historian by training so I wasn't sure what I would get asking for a WWII Arnhem tour. What I received was a local's perspective. A resident of Nijmegen, got the best of " past and present". Hit all the standard sites plus a few extras thrown in, including many of the Band of Brothers sites. Don't miss the museum at Overloon. While she's not cheap as tours go, was worth every Euro. Next time I will have to book her for a Riksmuseum tour in her specialty. All in all outstanding.
Comming to Arnhem was on my Bucket List since I watched the movie "A Bridge Too Far" in the late 70s. Walda had everything expertly planned for our tour. We only had 5 hours and In that short time, we visited all the main Operation Market Garden sights AND also visited sites related to actions of Easy Co. "Band of Brothers" in the area. She provided great historic perspective of the events of September 1944. EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks Walda for a once in a lifetime unforgetable experience.

Walda is exceptionally knowledgeable and an outstanding tour guide. She researched and organized our visit to Arnhem, the Airborne Museum Hartenstein and to the Canadian War Memorial in nearby Groesbeek where my uncle was memorialized. My wife and I drove in her smallish Citroen which was surprisingly roomy and very comfortable. We also enjoyed an outdoor lunch at a hidden gem, arguably the best pancake restaurant imaginable, called, De Duivelsberg. Overall, we had a wonderful time with Walda!
