Once upon a time, Yangon was the capital city of Mon dynasty. In that time, the city was called Dagon. But, when King Alaungphaya captured Dagon in 1755, he changed the name of the city to Yangon in commemoration of the end of the strife. And, when the British force came to Yangon in 1852, they changed the name of the city to Rangoon again. Since then, Yangon became the capital of Myanmar until the government relocated the capital to Naypyidaw in 2004. Now, Yangon is only the commercial city with over 7 million population. When the British force came to Yangon in 1852, it was just a small village. And then, the British army engineer Lieutenant Fraser designed Yangon city in the delta land. Yangon is not too far from the sea. It is 32 km far from the sea. You can see beautiful colonial buildings in the downtown areas of Yangon. Actually, Yangon was a green city with many big trees. Booking this tour, you will experience the local life in Yangon and you have opportunities to see many colonial buildings.
Day 1 Proceed to the downtown areas for walking tour in the old city. See the landmarks around Sule pagoda. Walk to the banking areas and heritage building area in old city. Visit Strand hotel and Botahtaung pagoda. Proceed to Scott market and Lunch at the local restaurant. Continue to Inya lake and you Thant museum. Visit the reclining Buddha and Kandawgyi lake. Enjoy Shwedagon pagoda in the late afternoon. Overnight in Yangon. Day 2 Proceed to the train station for the circular train to see the local ways of life. Visit Kyauktawgyi marble stone Buddha and white elephants. Continue on a visit the tooth relic temple and Kalaywa monastery to see the monks eating. Lunch at the local restaurant and visit KabarAye pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.
