Sunset in the Dunes: 4x4 & Camel Experience from Erfoud

Set out from Erfoud for an unforgettable Sahara evening combining the thrill of a 4x4 desert drive with the timeless experience of riding a camel across the dunes. Travel off-road through rugged desert tracks, passing small villages and wide-open landscapes as you make your way toward the spectacular dunes of Erg Chebbi. At the edge of the Sahara, meet your camel and local guide before setting off into the golden dunes. As the afternoon light softens, ride deeper into the desert and watch the colors of the sand transform around you. Stop at a scenic dune, settle into the peaceful surroundings, and enjoy one of the Sahara’s most memorable sights: the sun setting across an endless horizon in shades of orange, pink, and gold. After sunset, ride your camel back to the edge of the dunes, where your 4x4 awaits for the return journey to your hotel or riad in Erfoud.

N.B.: In April and December, camels may not be available. For these departures, the experience will be replaced with a guided walk to the dunes or a 4x4. Pickup from Erfoud (approx. 3:30 PM – adjust based on season) I pick you up from your hotel or riad in Erfoud in a 4x4 vehicle. Off-road drive to Erg Chebbi (approx. 30–45 min) Drive off-road through desert tracks and scenic landscapes, passing small villages and desert scenery on the way to the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Meet your camel (approx. 4:30 PM) Arrive at the edge of the dunes where your camel and camel guide are waiting. Camel ride into the dunes (approx. 45 min – 1 hour) Ride by camel deeper into Erg Chebbi, enjoying the changing colors of the desert as the sun begins to lower. Sunset viewing (approx. 30 min) the sun set over the Sahara, as the sky turns vibrant shades of orange, pink, and gold. Drop-off in Erfoud (approx. 7:00 PM) Arrive back at your hotel/riad in Erfoud, concluding the tour.
