Casablanca Food Tour

We spent a wonderful 3 or so hours with Mohamed.. he deftly maneuvered us through the very crowded section of the food market in the old Medina, taking time to give us a contextual overview of how locals shop.. stopping when we found something of interest to us.. and ending up at a lovely restaurant near the port where we had time to share some of local foods. This was truly a personalized tour tailored to our pace and interests. Highly recommend booking.. you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Mohamed for sharing your time and culture with us.

Mohamed met us on-time and was very friendly and accommodating. Walking through the markets, he explained the food culture to us as we explored the markets, which included the fish market (GREAT fresh oysters only 1€ apiece), and then the Medinah and the sub-Saharan market. He brought us to places where we could purchase medjool dates (best that We have eaten) and argan oil that we requested. We tried sardines grilled over charcoal, olives, local breads, street phyllo wrapped snacks (so interesting to see how they made the phyllo!), and mandarin oranges. Basically, we could try anything we wanted. If we had wanted, we could have had a full meal, but we were already full. As an extra, we passed a private synagogue, now a museum, and we were able to tour it. We would definitely book another tour with Mohamed again.

Mohammed guided us through a food tour of Casablanca, with great information on the history of Casablanca, it's people, culture, and architecture along the way. Mohammad took us through the Central Market and then sampled several classic dishes of Morocco at a fine restaurant. While walking through Casablanca on our own, we were assisted by several friendly Moroccans, who then chatted for a few minutes, one of them commenting on the lack of American tourists in Morocco since 9-11. Mohammed made our visit to Casablanca easy, informative, enjoyable, and delicious.

Mohamed is a very knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Medina and Mohammed V square. The shop keepers in the souk were generous in allowing us to sample some of their products and Mohamed, while knowledgeable himself, helped with translation of our many questions. The grand finale was sharing a traditional Moroccan meal and stories with Mohamed. I could not recommend it more highly ! Thank you Mohamed!!

We had a great time with Mohamed and we really enjoyed learning more about the Moroccan culture and food from him. After spending time with him we wish we would have done his cooking class with him but that leaves us something for next time. Thanks Mohamed!!

My tour covering Médina and Habous was excellent, it largely consisted of walking through the markets and past cultural sites. Mohamed is very knowledgeable and personable. We had a sprawling conversation over the course of the tour that touched on: food, architecture, history, politics, society, & economics! It's tours like these that make traveling worthwhile.
