Kisumu has been known to be the gateway to Western Kenya's unique tourism circuit. Before venturing deeper into the western region, Kisumu is a treasure trove of attractions. Learn about the history and culture of this region at the Kisumu Museum. You will see depictions of lifestyles and diverse culture of Western Kenya, including the communities ancient clothing style, basket weaving, pottery, weaponry, typical traditional Luo homestead and fishing ways. You'll then take a lake-shore walk with the Impalas at The Impala Park Wildlife Orphanage. Take a drive to Rusinga Island in Lake Victoria. Enjoy boat rides, Fishing, Biking on the Island which is a haven for birds and provides a scenic view of the hills for hikers. On the way back drive to Kit Mikayi, meaning the Rock of the first wife. Its an archaeological site with vast granite rock tower that "WEEPS" periodically during the year. Considered as a holy site and water gushing down from the top is believed to have healing powers by the local community.
