MAURA B. Foligno, Umbria, Italy "Wherever you go, go with all your heart". (Confucius) I was born and raised in Umbria and, in my twenties, like so many young people, I packed my bag and traveled the world. I spent time in Paris, Istanbul, Madrid - in fact all the major European capitals and also spent several months travelling throughout the USA. On my return I began teaching Italian at the Università degli Stranieri di Perugia, then quickly realized that I wanted to share not just my language but also my passion for my heritage that is the natural beauty and the art of my land. I studied Art History and gained my Umbria Tour Guide's License 24 years ago and have never looked back. Umbria is a land of treasures! It is home to some of the most incredible pieces of artwork in the world. At the end of a working day I always feel a sense of gratitude and pride for the unforgettable experiences which I have been able to share with my guests… These might include a day of walking the cobbled streets of magnificent hamlets such as Spello or the feeling of being almost overwhelmed by the famous and revolutionary frescoes painted by Giotto in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi; we might have finished the day by savoring a glass of Sagrantino together while admiring the breathtaking view of the gentle countryside. The choice of authentic cultural experiences which we can share is almost limitless. I look forward to giving you a unique gift from my Umbria. It's a gift which cannot be lost and I hope will continue to give you the sense of an invisible link back here to my home forever. Overview of your Assisi tour

Assisi is one of the spiritual and artistic highlights of Western civilization. It is, quite simply, one of the prettiest Medieval hamlets you will ever see. Assisi's jewel in the crown is the grandiose Basilica of St. Francis, one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in all of Christendom. You'll understand why when you see the vast, breathtaking frescoes by Giotto, the most famous painter in Medieval times. He rediscovered the art of creating the illusion of depth on a flat surface and was the most powerful story teller of his day; imagine the amazement of the locals when his revolutionary artwork was unveiled in the 13th century! Through an intriguing investigation we'll discover how he envisioned new social and political values through his art which changed the course of history for the next centuries. I will lead you on an interactive and immersive tour of the church and the life of St. Francis, founder of the Franciscan religious order; you will never hear his name without fondly remembering this day.

Maura was fantastic in all respects and five stars are not high enough to describe her level of knowledge, expertise, professionalism, friendliness, personality and overall excellence as a tour guide. She is the absolute best guide we have ever had in many years of using TBL guides all over Europe. She led us through both Assisi and Spello on different days and introduced us to many of her local friends and shopkeepers who obviously hold her in very high esteem. My wife and I feel like we got to know her well over the course of 2 days and were left with the distinct feeling that we were exploring 2 wonderful places with an old friend. We can not get over and fondly recall the entertaining and delightful time spent with Maura. We left her with a standing invitation to visit us in our home in the panhandle of Florida.Charles Paterson
