Hi, my name is Alessandro and I'm a passionate Sicilian archaeologist and tour guide. I hold a BA in Preservation of Cultural Herigate, with a specific focus on classical archaeology, completed by a further Postgraduate qualification in Sicily and Magna Graecia Archeology. My main research interest is on Magna Graecia and Sicily Archaeology, about which I published different scientific papers. I was also assistant to the Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology at the BA Sciences of Tourism of the "Università degli Studi della Calabria". I have worked as an excavation supervisor in Abruzzo, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. I am a Licensed Guide for Sicily since 2014. What I love most about my job is sharing my passion for the land with others and spreading knowledge of the territory and culture of Sicily as I know her. I am always delighted to guide my visitors into an unconventional world of archaeology, food, wine and traditions. According to me, a place must not only be visited, but felt and lived in all of its multifaceted features. This is the concept I have of any excursion. We must not be tourists, we have to be part of the society in which we stay, blending our customs with their way to live. I think that this belief, in combination with my expertise acquired through extensive and continuing academic research and high-grade studies, makes me a totally different kind of tour guide. According to me "Sicily must be experienced, leisurely and in depth". This is the philosophy through which I live on my island. BA in Classical Archaeology Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Archaeology Long experience of excavations in Sicily and South Italy Experience as assistant to the Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology at the University Publications related to the field of Roman and Greek Archaeology Licensed Tour Guide for Sicily

Scicli, the pearl of Hyblaean Baroque, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in South East Sicily. It is dominated by three hills on whose tops you can admire the Convent of Santa Maria della Croce and the Church of San Matteo. The sides of these three rocky acropoleis are tied up like a nativity scene thanks to peculiar dwellings. The cliffs also feature rocky dwellings as shown in the exemplary archaeological area of Chiafura. After the 1693 earthquake, the town was moved down to the valley and centred in the area between via Mormino Penna and the Church of San Bartolomeo, where all the extraordinary late Baroque buildings, which render the town of the Val di Noto unique, meet. I will be delighted to guide you in this charming and authentic Sicilian town, and share with you the offbeat characteristics of its history, architecture, and traditions.
- The tour will start with a stroll along the monumental Via Mormino Penna, where we will go into the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista, and stop outside the Churches of Santa Teresa and San Michele. - Afterwards, we will go through the path that brings to the majestic Church of San Matteo, a religious complex which overlooks the entire town. - Back to the lower part of Scicli, we'll have a quick stop in front of the Beneventano and Fava Palaces, that show wonderful mascaron ornaments cut by gouges. - Finally, after seeing the rocky area of Chiafura, we will go towards the Church of San Bartolomeo to enjoy this true pearl of the Sicilian Baroque. The itinerary can be customized upon request.
