Hi, I’m Marco, a licensed hiking and environmental guide with a deep connection to the Aeolian Islands, especially Vulcano, the island I call home. I have experienced Vulcano since childhood, exploring its trails, hidden beaches, volcanic landscapes, panoramic viewpoints and quiet natural corners with my family. Over time, this authentic bond with the island became both a passion and a profession: guiding travelers through the Aeolian Islands with experiences that are genuine, immersive and memorable. During my tours, I share the islands through their geology, history, local traditions, legends, scents, flavors and breathtaking views. My deep knowledge of the territory, local customs and everyday island life allows me to create experiences that go beyond a simple visit, helping guests truly connect with the soul of the Aeolian Islands. I offer experiential activities that I consider a true must for anyone visiting this extraordinary archipelago: panoramic hikes, nature walks, sunset experiences, local tastings, encounters with island traditions and private itineraries tailored to each traveler’s pace and interests. My goal is to let you experience the Aeolian Islands through the eyes of someone who knows and loves them deeply: walking through volcanic landscapes, discovering hidden details, listening to authentic stories, tasting local products and reaching the right places at the most beautiful moments of the day. Each tour is designed to be personal, engaging and meaningful: a journey through nature, culture, flavors, views and moments that will stay with you long after your visit.

Discover the volcanic heart of the Aeolian Islands on a guided hike to the Gran Cratere della Fossa on Vulcano Island. Along the trail, we will explore volcanic landscapes, sulphur deposits and fumarolic areas while learning about the geology, history and ongoing activity of the volcano. From the summit area, enjoy spectacular views over Vulcano, Lipari and the surrounding Aeolian Islands. More than just a hike, this experience offers the chance to understand Vulcano through its geology, nature and local stories, guided by someone who knows the island deeply.
The experience begins at Lipari Port, where we board the hydrofoil to Vulcano Island. After arriving at Vulcano Port, we reach the base of the Gran Cratere della Fossa and begin the guided ascent. Along the trail, I will introduce you to the geology, volcanic history and natural features of the island. Reaching the summit area, we will observe the active fumarolic field, sulphur deposits and the visible signs of the volcano’s current activity, while enjoying panoramic views over Vulcano, Lipari and the Aeolian Islands. After the visit to the crater area, we begin the guided descent, return to Vulcano Port and take the hydrofoil back to Lipari.
