I can't wait to meet you in person here in South Tyrol, a place I adore for its beauty, the majestic mountains that seem to have a touch of divinity, and its unique culture—a perfect blend of Germanic and Italian influences that make this place truly special and exotic! Claudia designed a very special tour for me that started in Bolzano and ended in the tiny mountain town of Palu del Fersina where my great-grandparents lived. She arranged a meeting with a researcher at the Mocheno Cultural Museum in Palu who was interested to see the photos and documents (ship’s manifest from Ellis Island in New York) I brought with me. We had lunch at a cafe which bore my family name! Claudia is very worldly and has lived and traveled all over the world. Such life experience adds a lot to her guiding style. She is so knowledgeable and obviously loves being a tour guide. I wish I was staying longer in Italy so I could hook more tours with Claudia!
Claudia was just excellent: she provided extensive, interesting comments on the political, geographical, and social histories of Bolzano. She has a fine sense of humor as well. One of the best of the many fine toursbylocals guides we have used. Highest recommendation.
-Once we've met, we'll proceed to visit Walter Square, our main square, Bolzano's living room, famous for its cafes and the splendid view of the cathedral, which will we'll visit next. -We'll continue with Bolzano Cathedral, which is Bolzano's main church. -Then it's on to to the Dominican Church which contains the most famous cycle of frescoes in the entire city. We'll proceed to enter the Chapel of St. John where I'll help you discover the stories hidden behind it as we admire its splendour. -Next, we'll go into the historic city centre, with some of the most interesting palaces, such as Grain Square, along with Portici Street. ·Later, we'll make our way to Piazza Erbe with its market, once the site of public executions. -We'll later walk along the Talvera Promenade with views of Maretsch Castle & the Rosengarten, one of the most beautiful Dolomites peaks, truly breathtaking. -We'll finish in front of the Victory Monument, commissioned by Mussolini, where I'll help you unveiling its unique history.
