DHARAMSHALA - It's a hindi word which has beautiful meaning, Dharam means religion & Shala means abode, so it's called "religious abode" which is true and for centuries it's been the shelter for many people from all around the World. Presently It's an abode in exile for Tibetan spiritual leader the 14th His Holiness Dalai Lama. Together we will explore the town and start from the history of local Gaddi tribe of the area to British till the present Tibetan settlement. A perfect blend of mountain, monasteries and local culture with the history of British till Tibetan asylum in Dharamshala. How Sir Donald Mcleod fascinated with the town and named it after his name and called McleodGanj. On this day tour we will experience the feel of Tibetan Buddhism and its cuisine with the wide explanation of Himalaya with the details of flora and fauna of the area.
●We start the day from one of the oldest churches of northern India which is situated in Mcleodganj called St. John's Church in the Wilderness. ●Later we visit the Namgyal Monastery complex which includes Dalai Lama Temple, Kalachakra Temple and Tibet Museum. ●Later drive to lower Dharamsala to visit the Norbulingka Institute. Norbulingka Institute is worth visiting to see the dying art of Tibet which is preserved and developed there; like Thangka Painting, Appliqué, Wooden and Metal works etc. ●After the visit have traditional Tibetan lunch (optional).
