Explore St Peter Port your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every St Peter Port tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in St Peter Port for every interest, including:

History tours: Climb the ramparts of Castle Cornet to watch the noon-day gun, then follow cobbled lanes with your guide to the Town Church, Victoria Tower, and the Old Quarter as you hear stories of privateers and the Occupation. You can also visit Clarence Battery above La Vallette for harbour views and a close look at 18th-century defences.

Museums tours: See archaeology finds and Occupation exhibits at the Guernsey Museum in Candie Gardens, with time to explore the period rooms and art galleries. Your museum tours can include timed-entry to Hauteville House, Victor Hugo’s home, plus the military galleries inside Castle Cornet such as the Royal Guernsey Militia Museum.

Nature and Wildlife tours: Set out on cliff-path tours from the harbour to Fermain Bay or Jerbourg Point to spot kittiwakes, wildflowers, and views across the Little Russell. In spring and summer, join a wildlife RIB tour from St Peter Port to Herm and Jethou to look for puffins, seals, and dolphins, with time for a beach walk if you like.

The town centre is very walkable, though hills and cobbles can be tiring; public buses from the St Peter Port terminus reach much of the island. If that doesn’t fit your plans, you can book chauffeured tours or ask your local guide about tours with private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows St Peter Port inside and out.

Day trip ideas from St Peter Port

Use St Peter Port as your base and branch out to nearby islands and coast paths for simple day trips that fit your style.

Sark: A short ferry ride brings you to quiet lanes, cliff views and La Coupée, where you can walk or cycle between headlands and bays. If you like photography, wildflowers or starry skies, this island feels made for you, and your tour can plan ferry times so you make the most of the day.

Herm: Small and car‑free, Herm is about clear water and easy beach time at Shell Beach and Belvoir Bay. Pack light, walk the circular path, try a kayak if conditions are calm and let your tour line up lunch and the return boat without the rush.

South Coast Cliffs (Moulin Huet to Petit Port): Follow cliff paths past granite headlands, tide pools and sheltered coves, with views that change at every turn. This suits hikers who want a steady workout and painters or history fans who like the Renoir viewpoint and wartime sites along the way.

West Coast: Cobo and Vazon Bays: Broad sands, surf breaks and sunset colour make the west coast a favourite. Stop at Fort Hommet for coastal defences, then walk the seawall, and if you’re keen on boardsports your tour can time the visit for the right tide and wind.

The Little Chapel and Country Lanes: See the tiny mosaic‑covered chapel, then wander green lanes toward St Saviour and the reservoir for birds, hedgerows and stone farmsteads. Good for a slower day with short walks and local cafés, and easy to combine with another short stop.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of St Peter Port most travellers miss.
