Tour Guide for now nine wonderful years, I am a very positive and ongoing person. It is really hard to get away the smile from my face ;o) When I decided to get my guiding license, more than 9 years ago now, I thought first, that it could be a summer job while on holiday from teaching, but I quickly realized what a great job guiding can be. I use to say, that now, my students are older than before, and are now really very interested in what they want me to speak about. Even better. I started doing tours for friends from California, years ago, then friends of their friends, and I now take people on my tours who become friends ;o) I live in in Normandy, where I was born, but I also lived in Paris, in the US , and in some other countries. That gives me the ability to understand other cultures and to adapt myself. Yet, Paradise is for me "here" in the green pastures of Normandy. Both my grandparents lived through the German occupation, and both were in the French Resistance. I have a very strong connection to my region. That really started my passion for digging in the past. After an education in Normandy, I went studying History and Journalism in Paris at the Sorbonne. As a real History buff, I have created some unique itineraries no one else did before me, like the real Viking tour on the footsteps of the Vikings of Normandy. I try as much as possible to do things the best I can. I am a perfectionist, and I assume. I am married and have two lovely daughters. Besides my family and my job, I love horses. Beyond the experience I have for doing this tour, it is the love for the site and its history. Even, though Mont St Michel is in Normandy, it owes a lot to Brittany and Rennes. Sometimes, I wish I could live on the Mont St Michel for the tranquility and the view. The nights I have spent on this island are always too short. On the way to Mt St-Michel, I will tell you all the history of the Mont, its well kept secrets and forbidden stories. On the "Mont ", you will explore the Abbey, the Church & the village. For lunch : local specialties "bien sur" in the best restaurant of the island. After the Mont St Michel, I'll drive you to Cancale, a lovely little village set in this bay, Cancale is the the best place in France and probably in Europe for oysters . (The famous "Belon of Cancale" ). Besides many tasting you will also see how oysters are raised. Then, if you still have time I will guide you in Saint Malo, where you will be back in the days of privateering and great discoverers
We had a wonderful day with Igor touring St Malo and Mont St Michel. He met us at the gare de Rennes as we made this a day trip from Paris. We explored St Malo by foot, learning a lot about this enchanting town and its rich history. After a lunch of typical Breton food, we made our way to Mont St Michel for the afternoon. Igor was knowledgeable, engaging, and funny. He's a great travel partner when you explore France. Highly recommend!!!
Igor was very knowledgeable and the tour went as planned.He was very cooperative and we covered a lot of ground despite the fact the weather in the morning was not very good.We were able to visit St Malo briefly and made in time to catch the train back to Paris.Recommend him 100%. His Spanish language domain was good
Igor was one of the best guides we've ever had. He is a fountain of knowledge and made our visit to Mont St. Michel memorable. He has pictures, videos and audio guides. He also took us along the coast of Normandy where we could stop and taste fresh oysters and then to St. Malo for a tour and a delicious meal. A perfect day!!
Igor was waiting for us outside our hotel in Rennes when we came out. He came prepared with a tablet with videos about Mont Saint Michel, and happily shared his deep knowledge throughout the tour. We were traveling with a 9-year-old who has trouble maintaining attention. He made an effort to make the tour relevant to her, and wasn't upset when she wandered a bit.
Igor is an exceptional guide. As to be expected he is highly knowledgeable about the overall history of the area, but his basic commentary is enhanced with personal observations and anecdotes which add color to the traditional tour experience. He is also an extremely pleasant person to spend the day touring with.
9AM Rennes - Time to learn about the history of the Mont St Michel. 10AM Stop at the Mont St Michel 11AM - 12AM Visit of the Abbey of the Mont St Michel Please note that there are about 625 steps up to get to the Abbey. No elevator. 12. 30AM 1. 30AM Lunch in the best restaurant facing the bay of the Mont St Michel - Local specialties : Mère Poulard Omelette and salted grass lamb. 3PM Stop at Cancale if you want. Oyster tastings and visit of the oyster farm at low tide. This stop can be replaced by the Pointe du Grouin, a lovely spot for bird watchers and landscape enthusiasts. 6-7PM Back in Rennes Of course, this itinerary can be modified, adjusted to suit your wishes and/or requirements.
