The Louvre houses one of the world's richest collection of masterpieces in the world. The magic of this former royal residence comes to life as we unveil the incomparable artwork and history inhabiting these colossal corridors. We will embark on our Louvre exploration in the medieval section to understand the origin and evolution of the palace's construction. We then transcend into the antiquities, viewing the ancient Greek, Etruscan and Roman sculptures featuring the Venus of Milo and The Victory of Samothrace. Next, we immerse ourselves into the sumptuous decoration of the Apollo Gallery where the French crown jewels are still encased. Then we will behold the 1000 ft long Great Gallery which displays the Italian masters of the Renaissance such as Botticelli, Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci (including the infamous Mona Lisa). We'll conclude with some of the largest paintings in the Louvre including one-of-kind masterpieces by the most notable 19th-century French painters like David, Gericault and Delacroix.
Pierre was such an excellent guide!! His knowledge of historical events and art history and painting techniques and artists tied everything together in such an enjoyable way. Professional and informative.
Pierre could be the curator for the Louve-his knowledge is that expansive. In a few hours he showed us all the highlights new visitors would want to see. And he did it while pushing the wheelchair of one of our group that had injured her knee. He knows the best ways to get though this massive museum without feeling rushed. An all round good guy he made all of us feel at home in a strange building. Highly recommend this tour for all visitors.
Pierre-Yves showed us the Louvre highlights efficiently and professionally. He kept in good contact with me. We could never have seen and navigated the Louvre without him! He had so much interesting knowledge to share. He also helped us understand how to get to other parts of the Louvre after the tour was over. Fantastic tour with Pierre-yves, he was extremely knowledgeable on the art as well as navigating the museum itself to maximize our time there. There is so much to see but he really managed to steer us towards to most meaningful pieces and provide deep background and history for us to learn and enjoy! Highly recommended.
