I’m Erik B., your private tour guide in Chamonix/Mont Blanc/Haute Savoie I’m a fifty-something ex-pat American who moved to the French Alps 20 years ago, fell in love with the region, and never left. I grew up in the Great Pacific Northwest of the United States, where I gained my passion for the outdoors, mountains, and hiking. After earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in a small private university in Oregon, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I lived and worked for about 10 years. Then my (ex) wife, who is French, and I, decided to move the family to France. After first settling in the Lyon region, I ended up finding a job in Geneva and purchased a chalet in the French Alps about 30 minutes from the city. After working for 25+ years as a recruiter/headhunter specializing in information technology, I have decided to seek a change of pace and leave the 9-to-5 office job to pursue my passion for exploring the mountains. I love to share with others the gorgeous, magnificent region that is the Alps, one of the most beautiful areas in the world. I look forward to showing my guests quaint mountain villages, breathtaking vistas, historical sites, and (for the hiking enthusiasts) amazing hikes that will allow you to explore and discover this region like the locals do. NB: I can also do custom tours and/or hikes. Contact me to discuss your ideas.

Overview of your Chamonix/Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval tour: On this tour you will discover one of the most picturesque spots in the region. See a multitude of waterfalls while walking up the valley and drinking in the breathtaking views of high mountains on all sides. This is a fairly easy walk and mostly flat, although it’s possible to go further up the valley to a place called “Le Bout du Monde” (the end of the world – a few hundred meters of elevation gain) if desired. Possibility of stopping for a coffee break around the halfway mark. NOTES: You will need proper walking/hiking shoes and clothing in accordance with the weather of the day. My car fits 3 comfortably, but possible to accomodate a fourth person in the middle seat.
Your Chamonix/Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval itinerary: • Visit of the Fer-à-Cheval valley • Lunch in a traditional mountain cuisine restaurant • Visit of a local farm This tour can be tailored to your wishes within realistic expectations, please contact me with your questions.
