Hello, my name is Martina. When I was four, I visited the first castle with my parents and fell in the love with the guiding profession. I studied English and History of Art at university and worked as a seasonal guide at several castles during summer holidays. In 1997 I completed the first of a range of courses for professional guides. I worked as a teacher and a translator but my passion for history and travelling and the desire to share my knowledge with other people drove me to become a freelance certified guide. Thanks to this decision the dream job from my childhood has been my main occupation since 2004. I lead tours of other regions of the Czech Republic too but I know Brno and Southern Moravia best because I was born and have been living here all my life. I would be pleased to welcome you to my native city and show you the highlights and hidden nooks; take you to the busy places and out of the beaten track. It is the second largest city of the Czech Republic but unlike Prague it has retained the typical local atmosphere and its beautiful surroundings have not been discovered by foreign tourists yet. Brno is situated in the warmest part of the country. If you want certain guarantees of sunny weather, it is the best choice. And sun is a prerequisite for quality wines. It is, therefore, no wander that an area full of vineyards and wine cellars stretches from Brno far to the south. The Czech Republic is extremely rich in castles and other historic buildings. You can find 17 UNESCO sites here, out of which one is right in Brno and other seven are within 100 km from the city. I try to treat travelers like my friends so I hope you enjoy your stay and join the group of my former clients who remember their holidays in the Czech Republic as something exceptional. I would be delighted to welcome you to my home-land Brno, Czech Republic. While making a tour with me you will have an opportunity to learn about ancient and recent history and enjoy Moravian hospitality! Guide for Brno and its Surroundings Certificate of Professional Qualification, Tourist Guide Certified Czech Tourist Guide, Czech Tourist Guide Association Guide - Specialist for the South Moravian Region, Wine Tourism Religious Tourism, Czech Tourist Guide Association English Language and Literature, Master of Arts Degree, Masaryk University, Brno Member of the UNESCO Czech Heritage Association I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

This trip is an absolute must and the real highlight in southern Moravia. This part of the country is one of 17 UNESCO sites in the Czech Republic and combines grand palaces, lovely formal and landscaped gardens, picturesque towns, Jewish heritage, beautiful and unspoiled countryside, ruined castles boasting magnificent scenic views, boat rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, and wine! The tour will take you to the Lednice and Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO site since 1996. It occupies an area of almost 300 km2 and boasts two magnificent palaces, numerous "smaller" romantic buildings scattered in the large landscaped park, and wonderful formal gardens with artificial river arms and islands. We will continue to Mikulov, a beautiful historic town on the border with Austria and one of the centers of winemaking. However, you can find much more than wine there.
- Start in Brno, ride by car to Lednice . Interiors of Lednice Castle - a fairy-tale place, more than 400, 000 visitors every year, interiors with richly carved ceilings - A walk in the formal garden - By car to Valtice - wine tasting in the wine cellar under the originally main residence of the Liechtensteins - By car to Mikulov situated on the slopes of the Palava Hills which overlook the surrounding lowlands like a lighthouse - Walking tour of the centre, through the renovated baroque gardens to the castle and through the former Jewish quarter back to the centre - Refreshments in one of the local excellent restaurants or cafés having very positive and relaxed atmosphere

We will travel by car with a professional driver. The car provides all comfort. As a professional, the driver is insured. Please book the tour in advance so that I can guarantee the availability of the driver. If you are a larger group, please contact me and I prepare a customized tour for you as a larger car would have to be arranged. The places can also be visited by public transportation. If interested, please contact me for a customized tour.
