Hello dear travelers, my name is Mario and I have been working as a professional guide for the past 8 years with a license for Istrian Penninsula, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj and Karlovac region as well as the Zagreb county and the city of Zagreb (basically covering the whole western and central Croatia). Originally I am from Zagreb, the Croatian capital, but I moved to Opatija some time ago with my wife Sara and our one-year-old twin daughters Lea and Ela. I've got my masters as an Engineer of Road Traffic and Transport, however I found that I like working in the field, taking to people and sharing my love and knowledge about my country much more then office work. At first it was just city sightseeing tours of Zagreb, then smaller tours, and ended up guiding larger tours as well, but what I really enjoy the most is taking smaller groups of travelers on excursions or tours around the region, getting to know them and their interest and tailoring the tour to each group or each person. With small groups, we can discover off the beaten paths, go behind the evident, walk through the market and explore food, taste, and smell, discover local crafts and much more which you wouldn't be able to do with a larger group. Also, everyone's interests are different, and having a smaller group gives us the opportunity to focus on the traveler's interest so it becomes more interesting and personal. Tourist guide license course (Croatian official license for professional guides) - Vern - University of Applied Sciences in Zagreb, Croatia, 2015 - Zagreb city and Zagreb region (English and Croatian) - Aspira, Zagreb, Croatia 2018 - Primorsko-Goranska, Istarska, Karlovačka and Ličko-Senjska county (English and Croatian) I am licensed for the following regions: Istrian peninsula, Kvarner bay (Primorsko-Goranska county), Lika-Senj region, Zagreb city and Zagreb area and Karlovac region. For other countries and regions I can guide while on the road.

Overview of your Opatija tour

Come with me to my favorite part of Istria - to the hill towns build by giants, medieval cities with Venetian influence surrounded by walls, gastronomy that puts Istria on a world map and picturesque views of vineyards and valleys, a region where you meet friends on every corner. This tour will strive to engage all your senses; smell and taste delicacies such as Istrian high quality olive oil, find out what makes Istrian prosciutto so tender and aromatic, enjoy a meal in the world's smallest town Hum while overlooking the rolling hills and nearby villages. . . We continue our discoveries in Hum where we visit my friend's family run distillery shop in which we will have jams and brandy (rakija) tasting while learning about it (you'd be surprised what it's all used for). We can also visit their museum of old crafts in which we learn how people used to live in Hum, what crafts they did, what tools they used and how their houses looked like.

Your Opatija tour itinerary
