Join me for a full-day tour of two of the most attractive towns in Kvarner Bay—Rijeka and Opatija, both very close to my heart. We begin in Rijeka, Croatia’s third-largest city, known for its powerful mix of ancient history, industrial heritage, and modern culture. Rijeka proudly held the title of European Capital of Culture 2020, and its past is full of fascinating stories. Did you know the torpedo was invented here? Or that Rijeka was one of the most important ports of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy? You’ll also hear about the ship Carpathia’s last stop here before sailing to rescue Titanic survivors, and why Rijeka hosts one of the world’s largest carnivals. Then we head to Opatija, once a fashionable Austro-Hungarian winter and health resort, today one of Croatia’s most refined destinations. Surrounded by historic villas, lush botanical gardens, stunning sea views, and the famous 14 km Lungomare promenade, Opatija is often called the Croatian Monte Carlo.

Tour can start in Opatija, Rijeka, or any other city within 10 km. I will pick you up at the arranged meeting point. - drive to Rijeka If you are arriving on a cruise ship to Rijeka, I will meet you at the port, and the walking tour will start from there.
