Hello! I am Hernán, a costarican nature lover, passionate about music, photography, birds and friends. I have done many different jobs always related with tourism, as a certified water lifeguard, as a guide in an adventure park, an entertainer in water parks and hotels, a DJ at private parties and restaurants, Head of Entertainment, tropical dance instructor, children's entertainer and many more. I was working with the largest tourism company in the country and I found a way to study and work, so I got my bilingual general tour guide license in 2018 and became part of my area's certified guides. I started working as a freelance guide in 2021. The desire to show my country prompted me to give my best and create customized tours for my friends and clients in general. I love visiting the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park and observe its volcanic activity, the transition forest, the flora and fauna of the forest, visit Tenorio Volcano National Park and enjoy the spectacular blue waterfall that falls 30 meters where the Maleku natives perform sacred rituals in the past; walking among the clouds on the suspension bridges and observe the majestic Arenal Volcano. I live in the city of Liberia, province of Guanacaste, where you can enjoy delicious meals, enjoy typical and cultural activities, and walk through the city discovering its history, as told by its streets. This is just 15 minutes from the Daniel Oduber International Airport or also called the Guanacaste Airport, and just 30 minutes from the Papagayo Touristic Pole where the largest and most prestigious hotels in the country are located. Plants, flowers, trees, insects as well as people are all part of this great garden called Costa Rica. Overview of your Guanacaste tour

We gonna visit the transition forest which is located 23 km northwest from the city of Liberia. Lets hike by Las Pailas Trail 2 miles in a loop around the volcanic activity and see mud pots, boiling water pools and fumaroles. We may also come across white faced, spider ; howler monkeys, tapirs, birds and more amazing species of fauna and flora, as well as seeing a stationary waterfall. We'll be going on an moderated hike for 2 or up to 3 hours along wide trails that'll make you feel safe at all times. We'll visit the lovely town of Curubande where we'll enjoy lunch in a local restaurant, before reaching Rio Blanco where the fresh water and beautiful nature will relax you and make you feel like you're daydreaming. A popular legend about how the volcano got its name due to a Curubanda daughter Curubande the famous shift.

Hernan was exceptional. We book a lot of private tours around the world, so have many to compare him to. Hernan’s love for what he does is obvious. His English is exceptional, his knowledge of the local wildlife is impressive, and his desire to make sure you are enjoying your adventure is present in everything he is doing. This particular tour is very long, so enjoying your tour guide is essential. We couldn’t have been more pleased. He arrived to pick us up on time, his car was very clean, he was a safe driver, he educated us throughout the day, and even treated us to fresh watermelon slices after the hot hike. You can’t go wrong by booking Hernan.

We had a fantastic time with our guide, Hernán Bolaños Obando. His energy and enthusiasm for Costa Rica are truly contagious. The hike through the forest, our visit to Los Coyotes, and lunch at a very quaint restaurant were all incredibly memorable experiences. I highly recommend Hernán and this tour!

We had an amazing experience with Hernán B. He picked us up early and we were off to Rincon de la Vieja National Park for a hiking tour where we saw three different types of monkey, beautiful birds, white tailed deer, different types of flora and of course geothermal activity. Hernán was a wealth of information, telling us about all the medicinal uses of the surrounding plants, the history of the area and of course all of the local lure. The hike took most of the morning because we stopped to see so many different things, including a beautiful waterfall. After the park, we stopped at a local Soda by the Rio Blanco where we had an amazing, traditional Costa Rican meal. After our meal we relaxed in the blue pools of the Los Coyotes and Hernán showed us how to eat an orange the Costa Rican way! We truly enjoyed this tour by Hernán and would 100% recommend him! We will be booking again!!

We spent the day with Hernan before catching an evening flight back to the states. He took us for a long hike through the national park, bought us an authentic lunch, and then dropped us off at the airport. It was a great day! He was fun and knowledgeable. Also, he can customize any tour for your group which creates a unique travel experience vs. the cookie cutter tours from the large companies. Do not hesitate- book your tours with Hernan! We will definitely book him for our next adventure when we return!

We had a fabulous day with Hernan! We had to change the itinerary a little bit because the river was too high to safely do the La Leona waterfall (which was not at all Hernan's fault). Hernan came up with some great alternatives and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we did. Hernan did such a great job adjusting the tour to our interests. For instance, after I mentioned that his tour where you can learn about medicinal plants from an indigenous tribe sounded neat, he started pointing out plants and their uses. His passion for what he does shines bright, and we could tell he was well respected by all the other guides and park rangers we met throughout the day. I highly recommend doing a tour with Hernan!

Great tour. Tour was as advertised. What made it better was our guide, Hernan. Very knowledgeable on indiginous plants and animals and described how they tied into local culture. Informative, fun, with exercise. Don't forget sunscreen or a hat!!! The dry area was full sun. (wet forest was under the tree canopy - mostly shaded). We are not swimmers - so leave that part to other reviewers...but it was pretty looking.

Your Guanacaste tour itinerary

-We will start with a morning pickup from your hotel, residence or any place you request, after which we'll drive you to the National Park, which will take us around 1. 5 to 2 hours. -Once we reach Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park, we'll start the visit by looking around the forest, before getting ready for a hike. -Next, we'll go on a hike through the transition forest for a couple hours, depending on your preference and the breaks you might take, taking in (and picturing) the environment around you. -Afterwards, we'll go on a 15 mins drive to the town of Curubande, where we could enjoy lunch in a typical Costarican restaurant (around one hour). -We'll then drive 20 min towards Los Coyotes Rio Blanco, where we'll enjoy the fresh blue water from natural pools , an hour of relaxation and swimming! -We'll then go back to your lodging, and along the way, we'd be able to stop at a venue to get snacks, beverages and/or souvenirs, if you wished. This itinerary could be customized upon request
