Hanging Bridges hike and La Fortuna Waterfall Tour

Jose is an absolute gem of a tour guide! His knowledge is unparalleled and from the moment we were picked up from our hotel until the end of our night hike on the final day, he was explaining to us the history of the area, the wildlife we would encounter, and the different plant species that surrounded us. He was a consummate professional, always polite and working well with our kids on the tour (ages 7, 8, 9, 10). Jose took us to the Mistico bridges, the Arenal waterfall, downtown for photos, a nature walk, on a boat tour where we saw birds, monkeys, and caymans, a night hike, and a peasant farm tour where we were able to see how the locals live and make their own food. The lunch was prepared from scratch, on-site, and our kids really enjoyed the animals (chickens, cows, geese, guinea pigs, and turkeys). Even though the rains came, it didn’t dampen Jose’s nor our spirits. We spotted tree frogs, herons, and even were lucky enough to spot Costa Rica’s most dangerous snake, the fer-de-lance! Jose provided our group of 4 adults with a wonderful experience. He is a wealth of knowledge about Costa Rican culture, the unique animals and plants of the area. I requested a custom tour with specific start and end times and he was so accommodating. He helped take photos, provided valuable insight and got us comfortably transported to and from our destinations.

We had such a memorable day with Jose visiting the Hanging Bridges and the La Fortuna waterfall. We learned so much about the country's history, the wildlife and the fauna from him. He is truly passionate about all of these things and there is no way we would have gotten as much out of our time in Arenal without him guiding us. We even got to see a sloth right before going home because he was paying attention to all the surroundings. His van was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Thank you Jose!!

Jose is a wonderful guide and person. His knowledge of local flora and fauna is extensive. He is FULL of knowledge and is truly a local (raised by a coffee farmer!). We took three personal tours with Jose over three days, using his spacious and clean van. Over three days, we visited Mistico hanging bridges, Butterfly garden, Chocolate tour and La Fortuna Waterfall. We highly recommend Jose for transportation and most importantly, for private tours in Costs Rica.

Jose is a fabulous guide! He's very knowledgeable about the plants, birds and animals of CR and made the day very interesting. Even my 18 y/o son loved it! We never felt rushed or restless and had a great day, riding in the comfortable van between sites. The waterfall swim was very nice, but be prepared for the 500 steps down and up! We would highly recommend Jose and this tour if you want to explore the rainforest with a local expert!
