Hola, my name is Jorge. I will be more than glad to be your local guide in Costa Rica, this paradise that I am lucky to call home. I have designed comprehensive one-day tours in order to help you discover and enjoy the amazing nature, culture and gastronomy of my country. In 2006, I participated in a sustainable tourism program in Sweden. After that, I knew what I wanted to do for a living. I have been working as a tour guide since 2008 and I love it but it was not until 2017 when I joined ToursByLocals. I delivered tours for its clients for a year and then I became part of the company's staff where I worked for 2 and a half years. I truly enjoyed this experience as I met and worked with many fellow tour guides from all around the world, as well as sharing with everybody from the offices. . . however, the outdoors have called me back and here I am again, ready for more tours and adventures :) As a traveler myself, I can say the best journeys I've had abroad have been in the company of local people. To me, sharing traditions and going to places with them is the best way to see another country, that's why I like offering tours that cover the "must-see" places but also more authentic experiences in off-the-beaten-path spots. Sloth Searching & Real Chocolate Making
Overview of your Arenal Volcano National Park tour
Slow like no other animal, the smiley-looking sloth is one of Costa Rica's national animals and certainly a "rainforest celebrity". There are many fascinating things to learn about the "perezosos" and their habitat, but for now just let me tell you that if you like avocados then you should thank sloths ;) The first part of our tour will be a leisure rainforest hike looking primarily for sloths, besides, chances are to spot other beautiful animals as well, such as, toucans, lizards, owls, agoutis and more. Then, we will learn everything about the so-called "Food of God". The cacao seeds, (once Costa Rican native people's former currency) will be dried and roasted to perfection before your eyes so you get to see the whole process from cacao fruit to bar. To top it off you will have the chance to create your own chocolate with the ingredients you like the most :P
