Hidden secrets of Santa Maria: Walking Tour with Sunset Cocktail and Barbecue at the Beach

Get to know Santa Maria in the most beautiful way: by foot. Enjoy with safety the street art, the local shacks, the markets, trying our corn-based dishes wish tell the story of my country that fought through colonization, drought and poverty. We will experience local home made liqueurs and juices/teas, having cuscus (made with corn flower, cinnamon, honey and sugar) with coffee from Fogo island and local tea at a local's house. We will then head to a quiet beach and set up for sunset! After a home made local cocktail you will try the food variety of the island: pasteis (fried local snacks with tuna), cheese from Santo Antao, and local liquers (grogue and ponche). To finalize at dinner you will savour our cachupa, a stew made with leftovers, corn and beans or you can choose to have a private fish /meat or vegetable barbecue at the beach with local live music.

Meeting point at PONTAO DE SANTA MARIA: See the fishermen and the locals, head to local spots where you can taste local snacks and liqueurs. We will visit SAL MUSEUM where you can discover Cape Verde traditions, traditional cuisine and other ancient objects, as well as historical curiosities about the island and visit the MERCADO MUNICIPAL. For tea break you will meet a LOCAL FAMILY and enjoy some time getting to know them and their costumes whilste trying coffee from fogo island, local herbal tea and local liqueurs as well as some home made cuscus. During our walk I will guide you through the HISTORY and CULTURE of Sal and Cape Verde before we relish with a local coctail with the amazing view of the ocean. To finalize you will relax to the sound of LIVE MUSIC whilste me and my team prepare a MEAL AT THE BEACH where you can taste local appetizers and choose between the local stew catchupa to a barbecue to end your day (fish/meat/vegetarian are available)
