I am a Carioca (born and raised in Rio), who lived in Hamburg, Paris, London , and Manaus and since 1986 have been back to my home city. Graduated in Tourism, I have worked as head concierge at a 5 star hotel when I became the second President of the Golden Keys Brazil (International Association of Concierges - I am a Clefs D'Or Honoray Member). I have also worked in the Brazilian Embassy in London, in the travel and hotel industries , and in leading global companies. I have decided to become a guide based not only on my previous work experiences but also on my interests in cultural life and high standard traveling. As a "Carioca da Gema" (born and raised in Rio) I have covered the streets and quarters of the city and its surroundings. I enjoy discovering unique and interesting places worth remembering. In this way I can plan and put together a most exciting tour of the Wonderful City. The work of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer demonstrates his appreciation for free-flowing design. Examples include the Contemporary Art Museum in Niterói. We will drive across the bay over the Costa e Silva 14km bridge to Niteroi to see 7 of Niemeyer's projects. Visit of the popular theatre and MAC Museum. Lunch at Olimpos restaurant and vist of City Park. The only buildings that can be visited are the MAC and the Charitas Ferry Station where the restaurant is located.
One of the main attractions of Niteroi is the group of constructions that, together with the Contemporary Art Museum (MAC), is known as Caminho Niemeyer (Niemeyer Path). The Roberto Silveira Memorial and the Teatro Popular Oscar Niemeyer have a shape that resembles waves and has a structure for outdoor concerts that can hold up to 10 thousand people. The path continues on Praça Juscelino Kubitschek (JK) Square, where you can find statues of Oscar Niemeyer and of the former president Juscelino Kubitschek. A short walk takes us to Centro Petrobras de Cinema, the structure of which resembles a film roll. The building houses screening rooms and the Museu do Cinema (Museum of Cinema). The Contemporary Art Museum (MAC) is symbol of Niteroi, MAC is known for its futuristic architecture, which resembles a flying saucer. We end at Charita Ferry station and Olimpo Restaurant. On our way back, we visit city Park for the most beautiful views of Rio" s extraordinary geography.
