Barclays Park Trails Half Day Tour

Our hike begins at the Chalky Mount Bar location in the scenic hilly village Chalky Mount. As we walk through this typical Barbadian village, I will introduce you to the local sights, sounds, flora and fauna. At the village's end, we progress off road into the rugged, rocky terrain of Chalky Mount, ascending to my favorite scenic vantage point. Barbados' best clay deposits are to be found in this Chalky Mount area. It's always very windy up here on the Mount, with fresh air directly off the Atlantic Ocean. At this elevation we stand about 500ft (152m) above sea level on sand stone and clay; the oldest geological part of the island. We then descend to the beach on the rugged east coast and walk along the brown sugar coloured sand to Barclays Park, from where we climb to the village of Cambridge and back to our start point along paved country roads.
