We were excited for this tour, but unfortunately it didn’t meet expectations. Given Aloys’s many stellar reviews, I imagine we caught him on an unusually bad day. He arrived two hours late, which wouldn’t have been a big deal if the rest of the day went well, however it didn’t. Several of the promised stops were skipped or vaguely dismissed. What a wonderful city tour we had with Aloys! He is an excellent guide, a font of knowledge, not just of Dar es Salaam, but the wider history of the East African nations. We thoroughly enjoyed his company as he safely guided us through thronged markets by foot and around the busy streets in bajajs. A must for anyone who has a tiny bit of adventurous spirit and curiosity.
