Valley of 1000 Hills Wildlife Safari and Zulu Cultural Private Tour

Explore the rich Zulu culture on this day tour to the popular Valley of 1000 Hills.

After collecting guests from Durban, we start the tour by travelling about 45 min west of Durban to Tala Game Reserve. While we're on the way, I'll chat about the history of Durban and the Zulu people, and of course answer any questions guests may have.

At Tala we'll spend a few hours in the park getting up close and personal to the various inhabitants, from the awe inspiring White Rhino, to the elegant Blesbok and Giraffe, as well as the Zebra, Impala, Hippo and Wildebeest. We may even get lucky and come across the magnificent Eland and Kudu!

After Tala we'll go for lunch at one of the popular local restaurants where you'll get to sample some local delights.

After lunch we'll head to PheZulu Safari Park where you'll get to experience the frenetic energy of the Zulu dancers and have an opportunity to learn about this proud and traditional people!

Time permitting, a visit to the crocodile & reptile park is out last stop.

'Big 5' Safari at Hluhluwe Game Reserve from Durban or Richard's Bay

Leaving Durban with return transfers 6:30 am. We board our comfortable air-conditioned mini bus and travel 3 hours northwards to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve.
I will drive you along the coast northwards and explain the beginnings of Durban, the local industries and some Zulu culture.
Once there the game drive begins and from the start it's looking for not only the "Big5" but all the other amazing animals. Giraffes, zebras, elephants, cheetahs, lions are just a few of what you might see. This will be a 6 hour Safari drive!
There will be a break for lunch in the form of a Bush braai (Barbecue). This will be at 1 of the many scenic picnic sites.
The return leg will stop at a community market with wonderful fresh fruit and veg and hand crafted curios.

Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve Private Day Tour

The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve is a 2. 5 hour dive from Durban or 1. 5 hours from Richards Bay and is Africa's oldest proclaimed game reserve.

Situated in the very heart of Zululand, the traditional home to the Zulu people, the reserve is world famous for it's conservation efforts. The reserve is home not only to the Big-5, but also to other endangered species like the African Painted Wild Dog.

And while the Big-5 is always exciting to try and find, the Small-5 can be just as fun and rewarding to find!

We start early at 6:30am and along the way I'll chat to guests about the history of Durban, as well as the history of the Zulu nation; I'll also answer any questions guests might have.

We'll spent the day in the game reserve stopping at one of two restaurants in the game reserve. We'll leave the reserve only after 3pm, and so arrive back in Durban at approximately 6:00pm.

Spend the day in one of Africa's oldest game reserves tracking the "Big 5" (elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and buffalo) and many other plains game (zebra, giraffe, antelope, warthog, etc) and bird life from the comfort of my closed vehicle or in an open vehicle at an additional cost. Discover the sights, smells and sounds of Africa and nothing beats the vibrant colours of an African sunrise or sunset! I can accommodate single travellers or groups and can also offer this tour as an overnight stay. This tour is also ideal for cruise passengers docked at Richards Bay Harbour.

The male lion has a mane around his head for protection during fights.

Leopards often store their kill in trees to hide them from other animals.

Warthogs have to kneel in order to eat as their noses are far longer than their mouths.

The stripes of a zebra identify the animal in the same way that human finger prints help to distinguish one person from another

Impala are top of the food chain for many animals in the bush.

The gnu/wildebeest often stays in close proximity to more alert animals as a means of ensuring their safety.

Rhinoceros have poor eye sight but very good hearing.

Breeding herds of elephant have a matriarch and each female is a "universal mother" to the babies of the group.

Male buffaloes who become old and grumpy are abandoned by their herd and become known as Dugga Boys.
