Hello! My name is Nestor, I am an entrepreneur, tourism professional and authorized tour guide in Guatemala. I specialize in organizing multi-day itineraries that include combinations of activities that are suggested according to your interests. For 21 years I've been exploring mountains, volcanoes, archaeological sites in the jungles, villages, cities and cultures and of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, and leading itineraries across Central America into Nicaragua and Costa Rica. I believe in tourism as a complementary way to impulse the development of local families and communities, and contribute to the conservation of the cultural and natural heritage of my country. The extensive knowledge I've collected from my diverse studies, and the experiences of traveling around 18 countries, facilitates flexibility in creating a tour to personalize your experience in this country/region. If you want me to suggest an itinerary to match your tastes and desires, consider it done. However, if you want more involvement in the planning process, I welcome the opportunity to assist you during the co creation of your trip. The tours are exclusively private, this means I don't accommodate various groups of travelers unless it's a special request of a tour operator, organization or travel agent. Send me a message and I'll gladly answer any inquiries. Looking forward to meeting you. Certified General tour guide, licensed by INGUAT (Guatemalan Tourism Board), license # 1092. Bsc. in Tourism from Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. 21 years of experience as mountaineer, hiker, climber, explorer and motorcycle traveler.

We start our tour with a visit to Q'umarkaaj archaeological site, ancient capital of the Mayan Quiché people during the post classic period, where usually in special days we can witness live ceremonies. Santo Tomas Chichicastenango, a mystical town in the western highlands, 18 kilometers south of Q'umarkaaj, is a popular destination for tourists attracted by its enigmatic church and Market days (Thursdays and Sundays), colorful cemetery and Pascual Abaj (shrine located at the summit of a hill nearby the town, where Mayan priests perform ceremonies). --- If you have specific transportation requirements, pricing inquiries or if your preferred start time isn't listed, please send me an email by clicking on the 'ASK A QUESTION' button that's listed on my tour page and profile. I will reply to you promptly. Thanks!
We leave Guatemala city or Antigua as early as possible, it's a 2:30 hour drive to get to Q'umarkaaj, there we start our visit to the archaeological site and local museum. After we finish our visit to the site, we drive back to Chichicastenango (30 minutes away), where we eat lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon visiting the local market (available only Thursdays and Sundays), Pascual Abaj Shrine and a local museum and workshop of traditional dances masks and outfits. Once we're finished, we return to Guatemala city or Antigua.
