O'zbekistonga xush kelibsiz! Welcome to Uzbekistan a land of friendly people! My name is Olimjon and I will be your local tour guide in Nukus, Karakalpakstan, a northwestern part of Uzbekistan. Touring with me you will get to know Uzbekistan in full size, our culture and traditions, our history and legends, our food and people, you will get to know all of it while visiting touristic attractive places, such as Aral seashore, Muynak ship cemetery, ancient Khorezm fortresses and Khiva. I am an avid traveler and I love to travel and to meet new cultures, I have been in +20 countries so far and I have new plans where to go next. In everyday life, I love playing tennis, whenever I can, and besides enjoying playing tennis I teach tourism subjects to students at the local university. I am a researcher focusing on water, energy, agriculture, tourism topics of Central Asia with interdisciplinary approach with project background on renewable energy, biogas technologies, public healthcare in Uzbekistan while my publications discuss problems on energy economics, sustainable tourism, public-private partnership. So far, I have been working with various projects of intergovernmental organizations (i. e. , UNDP, UNESCO, UNEP) and financial institutions (i. e. , World Bank, ADB, EBRD) in Uzbekistan. But besides my academic profession and my love for tennis, guiding is my true passions. I started with tour guiding in 2013 as I love my country and I wanted to share my knowledge and experiences with people who are coming to Uzbekistan. Since 2016 Uzbekistan is achieving significant growth in inbound tourism and we all are very happy to know that more and more people are discovering our homeland as a new tourist destination. Regarding tours, I can say that my favourite tour is to the Aral seashore which is a very quiet zone to relax and forget daily urban problems. If you visit the Aral Sea, you will discover extreme and desert tourism showing rural lifestyles with unique climatic conditions, but I would like to hear your thoughts, your questions in order to help you to make the perfect tour that will be customized only for you and your personal interests. Don't hesitate to contact me and to join me in discovering my ancient and beautiful homeland. I would be glad to meet you in Uzbekistan! The Aral Sea was one of the world's largest inland salt seas. Today it is reduced to a bare shadow of its recent size through extensive irrigation which has seriously depleted the flow of the Amudarya and the Syrdarya, the two major river systems on which the Aral Sea depends for regeneration. Yet the sea has also gone through a considerable number of changes over many thousands of years through natural causes. The beds of the rivers are constantly shifting and satellite photograph clearly show traces of ancient river beds flowing into different parts of the sea. Sometimes they bypassed the Aral Sea altogether, turning south and west to run into the Caspian Sea. The dry river bed now runs through empty desert but archeological research has found traces of settlements along its banks, showing that it was flowing relatively recently in historical terms (V. N. Yagodin & A. V. G. Betts (2006) Ancient Khorezm, UNESCO).
